Don't blame Goetz

All the joking I've done tonight lets get real here. No matter what happens will it really matter? We aren't likely to be significantly relevant in either sport from here on out. Unless you think finishing in sixth or seventh place is relevant. When Kirk retires or get fired (which could happen in ten years when he is out there using a walker) who is going to take his place that will even move the dial?

My advice just put a warm body in the football program (this will be kirk in twenty years in a wheel chair with an oxygen tank) and focus all money in the basketball program. Less players to finance.

Sometimes when things look the bleakest you just have to learn how to laugh at it all. I am trying tonight.

Now I heard Chris Collins name being tossed around about three weeks ago............... oops.
He done pretty good where he is now and for God sakes we have always been a much better program than them well since.......................... the cavemen picked up a round boulder and threw it against a crater wall. Yeah you guessed it ........... no Iowa players were there to get the rebound.

If you can’t see that there isn’t anything available even in the same conversation then idk how you can expect “better”. Program wasn’t in a bad position going forward. My hopes for better days have nothing to do with how terribly this whole thing has been handled. Your boner for wanting better outweighs reality.
I guess a serious question would be, how many players were leaving even if Fran was coming back next year? It was just talk but just about everyone expected to lose some of our guys from a team that barely made the big ten tournament. Has any of the post season tournaments invited Iowa? That's a serious question and a serious problem all in one.

Iowa would have definitely been in the NIT or Crown. Before the Big Ten Tourney they had Iowa projected as a 5 seed in the NIT. With winning vs nebby and Ohio State we would have probably gotten a Crown or better seed in NIT.

Fran got a fair shake at Iowa. 15 years is loyal for both sides. Only time will tell what becomes of this hire.

Iowa’s current roster wasn’t good enough to make a top 64 tournament 2 years in a row, next years would have been just as unproven and likely short some guys who were miserable this year when Iowa was clearly outmatched and boat raced. The game has changed, loyalty doesn’t matter, building with HS kids doesn’t matter and Iowa needs someone who embraces the challenges Iowa hoops is beyond X’s and O’s. Iowa needs a fundraiser, a coach, and a face of the program.

Yep.

I know I posted this shortly after Frans departure but it is pretty much what you are saying.

Starting to think about it, Indiana just went out and snagged the WVU coach, who just missed the tournament, despite a robust NIL, rabid fan base and money to pay top dollar for a coach. This is their guy, again, who missed the tournament. Does he have a tourney win? how many NCAA wins? And Indiana went and bought him out? He took the WV job immediately after signing an 8 year deal with Drake and now is on his 3rd job in 3 years?

Surely this dude has ton of tournament success to bring this kind of juice? Hell Alford had a S16 at a mid major right?

What has Devries done really I guess and that’s what Indiana fans are now asking. I’m not having any buyers remorse, at least yet.

I’m gonna talk myself into whoever we end up with lol, but this wasn’t like, Shaka Smart or Hurley or some sure shot shit…. Indiana reached and for what??? To beat out Iowa ????lol. Soft, I think they just over spent on a coach who’s on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Devries is their what, 4th or 5th pick if you believe what you read ??))and the fan base is having a meltdown already with hiring a guy who no tournament success who just missed it with a big budget.

Shits a game of chess. Only time will tell.
