lol. Don’t blame Goetz? She cut ties with a coach who would have made the same seed as WVU and then gets snubbed by him. Fran shouldn’t have been fired in the first place. She wanted to try to make a big move to show she can make decisions. Kirk has been given the leniency for worse. Fran Deserved Better. He’s looking for a new school to turn around as we lose every player and recruit we had.
Ok I'll bite. "Fran shouldn't have been fired"? I'm not saying he should have been fired without having someone lined up which we obviously didn't, but what has he done recently that should have made it a guarantee for him to retain his job?

Fran had been around for 15 seasons. He couldn't control NIL, which affected retention, but what makes you think we wouldn't have lost a good amount of those players anyway. The fact is, the players were his. He was responsible for depth and recruiting, as well as filling holes as a result of players leaving. No coach should have a life time pass and their has to be a performance bar in place so what did he do the past 2 seasons that make you believe that "he shouldn't have been let go in the first place" and "she wanted to make a big move to show she can make decisions"?
With NIL being what it is we were most likely not going to be retaining our best all around players and after 15 years his philosophy never changed that defense and rebounding were essential pieces in having any kind of success in tournament play.
Do I think it sucks? Sure. But how do you put this squarely on Beth and say that Fran shouldn't have been let go? Injuries happen and players were still going to leave this year and that needs to be taken into account, but a win in our last game of the regular season was the only thing that got us into the Big Ten tournament. I simply don't see how that's acceptable on one hand, but on the other if that doesn't lead to the termination of coach what does? I don't see it as a one year window gaged by Beth, I think there were a number of factors in play, but for a coach on the hot seat the last two years simply weren't enough, in my opinion to say that he shouldn't have been let go.
