Do Your Part - Do Not Purchase Bowl Game Tickets

Blind allegiance is never thinking for yourself.

And, of course, it's blind allegiance because the Great and Powerful Hawk90 says so... LOL

This thread is a total waste of bandwidth. No one with a functiong brain and the ability to do basic math believes that boycotting a second tier bowl game will have any effect whatsoever on the net financial gain of the football program much less any decision regarding coaching staff changes. No... this thread is nothing more than another opprotunity for the negative Nancy boys among us to, once again, let us know that they want a coaching change... for what... about the 3579th time?

Guess what? The money from bowl games is irrelevant to your cause. It barely pays the expense incurred to participate.

I thought you'd been banned or won the lottery or something. Was it after the Northwestern game you were taking over all the threads and talking crap to people who dared not love Ferentz? You haven't been so vocal the last few weeks of the season. Glad to know that you are still well. :)

It's a tough call. Some fans just like the chance to get away someplace warmer during the cold Iowa winters. I feel for the players because these are 18-21 year olds donning the black and gold. It's unfortunate for them because they are simply doing what was asked of them... Represent the University of Iowa.

Personally, i gave up my season tickets last year... After 10 years of Saturdays in Iowa City. I had the pleasure of attending the Orange Bowls in 2002 and 2010. Would never change that experience for anything. It's sad... Really... Seeing our fan base becoming divided. We have an AD who seems to not truly understand the fan apathy that is setting in. My personal decision to rid of season tickets was weighing the pros and cons of of the time and financial commitment .... To the product on the field. It's a slippery slope... And unfortunate slope really... Because we are all diehard fans and it's tough to see our beloved Hawkeye football program digress to where we are now.

Glad to see you're still posting silly nonsense that never happened.

Your memory is failing you. Iowa played Missouri in the insight bowl following the 2010 season. We played Arkansas st in 2009. So you could not have attended the ark st game after you watched the insight bowl.

I'm old. What can I say. So the insight bowl vs. Missouri is the last game I watched in person. By the way, Mizzou got screwed on the no catch call as their receiver, T.J. Moe, did catch that ball. Had the refs called it correctly, Mizzou likely goes on to win that game.

The point I'm making is it's not worth the drive from out of state to see this program and hasn't been for several years.

Also, as I've stated before, for those who want to pay and see them in person, that's their right with no questions asked. For me it's still enabling. I refuse to pay for mediocre to bad entertainment. That's also my right.

You need your eyes checked man. Moe had the ball bounce as he landed/rolled over on it. Refs got it right. If you wanna complain about the Hawks go and do so on another site. Not everyone is happy with KF and where the program is but we don't need delusional/crap statements like this from a game that happened 4 years ago.

Not being a big-time donor, I struggle with what I can do to help enact the coaching change that needs to happen. There are a lot of people that want Ferentz gone and if that is the case then you certainly should not be purchasing tickets to the bowl game. Not that it is going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things but continuing to financially support the football program in any way certainly is defeating the purpose if you want a change to be enacted. I was a season ticket holder for 13 years until I opted not to renew this year so am trying to vote with my dollars. I certainly would not entertain the idea of spending coin to travel and purchase game tickets to watch this product on the field in a bowl game.

Agreed, If you want the Clowns to be the dominate team in Iowa. Just keep on going the way we are.

Look pal. I was there and saw the replay on the big screen several times with several thousand Hawk fans around me. Everybody within earshot from the Iowa fan base knew it was a catch. You can deny it all you want but it was a great break for Iowa.

And I'll stay on this sight thanks. If you don't like what you read you can take you a$$ to another sight. There's one called Iowa.scout and you'd fit right in.

I don't plan on going to another site, but you can go to the 4:04-4:06 mark of this link and you will see where the ball moves/touches the ground when his arms separate. I would have to assume that most of the fans around you/in earshot felt relief, more so than getting a break.

We will just agree to disagree. Even on what you posted I never saw the ball hit the ground. You did and I didn't. But it's neither here nor there. Iowa won the game.

The whole point of this whole thread is the fact Iowa football is in a steady decline and has been for several years. That's a fact and most fans know it. Unfortunately those who are most important to the program don't seem to realize it.

Time to move on.

I can't go to the game in Florida, but I think I will buy a ticket just to p... off a bunch of guys in this thread.

I'd like to go I've got some friends that live in Jacksonville. However, I got myself a complete new BCM upper receiver group for my AR15. So, I'll just enjoy the game at my house. Go Hawks!!! :D

We're thinking about it as a family vacation. Wife is looking for hotels right now. Spend some time in Tampa/St. Pete, Orlando (for the kids), maybe a little farther south for some beach time, and Jacksonville for the game. A good 7-9 days away would be nice.

The bowl game will just be the beginning.

As I have told friends that want a coaching change, not buying tickets is about the only thing a non major donors can do to really have their voices heard. If you want the coach gone and continue to buy seasons tickets well you are part of the problem not part of the solution.

"Non major donors" - will have little impact .... as will lack of student ticket sales. Look back in August when Admin tried the raffle to get students to buy tix - asked if he was concerned (his final quote) Barta replied "We still have a waiting list for indoor/outdoor club seating" - until things along those lines change - no reason to change. There was +$34M raised privately for new FBall bldg - who those people are - they matter - not 'non major donors'.

I would say just don't buy it through the university but buy it through the bowl. Cheaper and it makes a statement that you traveled but the university didn't get any of your money.

Iowa only has to sell 6,000 tickets, as that is all they are allotted.
The Gator Bowl gives lower bowl, sideline seats between the end zone and the 30-yard line, so no end zone/top level.

Bowl game tickets is a drop in the bucket, compared to 70K+ at a home game and the $$$ for those luxury suites at Kinnick.

By the way, he trapped the ball. Maybe the call should not have been "overturned" but he DID trap the ball.
No one cares whether you travel to the game. or not. You make no difference. I make no difference. If some Hawk fans want to go to Jax. and have a great time, go for it and support the Hawks.

I want Ferentz gone but NOTHING IN THE WORLD I do or not do will have any effect on how long he coaches at Iowa.
I hope the Hawks win by 50..
