Do Your Part - Do Not Purchase Bowl Game Tickets

I can't go to the game in Florida, but I think I will buy a ticket just to p... off a bunch of guys in this thread.

I don't think buying a ticket and not going is going to upset many people on this board at all. In fact, I'd find it funny if you did that.

On the flip side, the bowl people would love you although the Jacksonville retailers may be pi$$ed off.

By the way, he trapped the ball. Maybe the call should not have been "overturned" but he DID trap the ball.
No one cares whether you travel to the game. or not. You make no difference. I make no difference. If some Hawk fans want to go to Jax. and have a great time, go for it and support the Hawks.

I want Ferentz gone but NOTHING IN THE WORLD I do or not do will have any effect on how long he coaches at Iowa.
I hope the Hawks win by 50..

You're foolish to believe you can't be part of the change. You are correct, they (IOWA) don't care about us as people as we are not big donors. But where we do matter is with our money for tickets, merchandise, hotels and food.

I am amazed at the lack of economic understanding on this board. If Iowa put 50,000 people in the stands at Kinnick every Saturday instead of 70,000, you can bet your a$$ they'd start caring.

Barta has made some statements in the past week that lets me know he's starting to hear a little more unrest then in past years. I believe he stated he thinks they will sell 5,000 less season tickets then last year, so yeah he's becoming concerned. Those are less dollars for the athletic department that already is at the bottom of the conference.

He's probably a little concerned for his own job as well and he should be. With the suspect firings of some women's coaches, the long contract to Ferentz and the fact Iowa is the worst athletic program in the Big Ten, he's not sitting pretty right now. The best thing going for Barta is the fact he's raised a lot of money (Iowa has 11th highest athletic revenue in the country). But the pot of gold will not last forever.

In 2008-2009 FY, Iowa football revenue was close to $39 million.
If Kinnick was averaging under 60K, this would get the AD's attention, and the buyout, when then start being discussed, if they thought they could get those 10K/fans per game back in the stands.

It is going to be a very under attended game. Much of the Iowa fan base is in the tank, the time/day of game is lame and plane tickets are insane if you've looked. Not to mention that Jacksonville, FL might as well be called Armpit, FL. Are Tenn fans going to show up in droves? Seriously doubt it. Think about the insight Bowl several years ago against Mizzou--that was actually a decent location and matchup and most of the entire upper bowl was empty. This is 2 bad teams with bad attitude fan bases in a dump city. I don't think that equals a great environment and it will get the Iowa Administration's attention because it will be embarrassing.

I live in Tampa, FL but am staying home to watch this one. I'd have to drive 3+ hours each way, hotel it overnight because I don't want to do all that driving in one day including the time spent at the game, and I also would have take a day of vacation to do it.

Honestly am not sure I'd go to watch this year's team play, even if it was the Outback Bowl and only had to drive 15 minutes to the stadium..

There are other things I'd rather spend the ticket money on this year, sorry to say.

Thinkin about going with my fam or i might stay home and manscape the facial hair around my mouth into a bad *** Goateeeee,

decisions..

I'd like to go I've got some friends that live in Jacksonville. However, I got myself a complete new BCM upper receiver group for my AR15. So, I'll just enjoy the game at my house. Go Hawks!!! :D
Ill give 10 minutes into the first quarter before you blow up the TV

As far as what is said here on HN, it may be underattended by Iowa fans. But if you think Tennessee isn't going to have a good fan contingent show up, you are seriously blinded by your hatred. The last time they attended any bowl game was 2010. That kind of drought leads to great attendance when a team does make a bowl.
