Trey probably felt that if he wasn't going to get minutes in a 28-point blowout win, on Sunday, then he wasn't going to get any minutes this season.
Even when the bench was emptied the last 2 minutes, I was curious why Oglesby was in the game, but Trey wasn't...............and, yes, I probably could have said that the other 38 minutes.
Who have they got?
Whats curious is now Iowa has 2 more open scholarships and already have 4 players signed. After next season they will have 4 more scholarships available with only one currently spoken for. Dickerson leaving also means Jok is currently the only Sophomore on the roster.
So do you sign 6 players going into next year and then 4 more going into 2016? That seems extremely excessive and a really bloated couple of classes. Fran will probably want to go the JUCO route with at least one of his scholarships
Who have they got?
Drake turned back on Ellingston. Uhl lol. Please fill me in who they have landed. All I've seen are scraps nobody else wanted. Ulis would have been a monster had Kentucky not come in and Fran busted his butt on that kid.
Obviously Dickerson was a fall back. JUCOS are a crap shoot but I would still want to know what was available in my state and would be tied in with coaching staffs. Oklahoma, ISU and a lot of others have prospered by some good Iowa JUCOs,
Indian Hills is 90 minutes from Iowa City. Coaches from all over the country stop by. The arrogant staff at Iowa doesn't have time. That's not on Fran that's his assistants. Iowa Western same situation. I've personally known other D1 high school kids that the staff hasn't put the time in with. LAZY or bad. I'll give um the benefit of the doubt and settle with lazy.
It makes me wish we would have beat Minnesota and northwestern even more. Easier to sell a good recruit on a team fighting for 2nd place in the B1G.
In this day and age I think it's about playing time for most recruits. Of course we need to be in the NCAA conversation. There's playing time for a big and a PG. I'm hoping for a 5th year senior on the inside and an incoming freshman at PG.
I think Trey will be an excellent PG for a Division II school.
I think Trey was a pretty talented guy. The reason he didn't see much time at Iowa might have been Academics. Why would he quit toward the end of the season unless he needed to focus on academics to quality academically to wherever he transfers to.
Per Rivals:
Aaron White - Dillard
Gabriel Olaseni - Francis
Anthony Clemmons - Dillard
Mike Gesell - Francis
Peter Jok - Speraw
Trey Dickerson - Francis
Brady Ellingson - Dillard
Dom Uhl - Francis
Andrew Fleming - Dillard
Brandon Hutton - Francis
Isaiah Moss - McCaffery
Ahmad Wagner - Dillard
Cordell Pemsl - Dillard
Connor McCafery - McCaffery big surprise lol.
Timing is way weird. Something must have been swirling below the surface because why not stick out the year at this point? Transfer after. Heck if something were to happen to MG or Sapp all of a sudden he's going to see some floor time. To leave a team down the stretch in a season is just odd. I read he's going to finish out the semester school wise anyway so why not stay on the team? Well Fran won't say anything and it don't look like Trey will either at least till he has a new destination locked up...
Great list. He picked up Woody and Gesell off a strong Iowa AAU team in his back yard and both were great pick ups.
White was some what of a diamond as I don't think he had many other D1 offers.
Could you please fill me in on who we beat out on the other current kids on campus...... No One.
Why are we just looking at the kids on campus? Why not look at who they beat out for the most recent recruiting class as well?
Guess he wS Sick of the Bench

If he's struggling with school I hadn't heard about it anyway. Sure doesn't mean he is or isn't as I'm not in that loop at all. I guess it does get his name out there for whatever that's worth... I just think it'd have to be something between him and coaches for whatever that might be. My advice to a kid at this point in the season is to not quit and stick it out. Timing is everything and this makes one look like a quitter not knowing what else there might be to it. It's not like he was playing 15 mins a game and then was benched for some unexplained reason. He's been sitting pretty much all year. So why decide to leave now?Weren't there rumors of Dickerson struggling with the academic side of things? Could be he wasn't living up to that end of the bargain. Otherwise, quitting the team early gets his name out ahead of the transfer rush at the end of the season. Could help him find a landing spot sooner.
