De'Andre Johnson dismissed

Hmmmmmm, let's see. At one place I get to avoid playing in a bowl game for my career and watch my program deteriorate. At the other place I get to experience the wrath of a vengeful God who has derailed the career of every Iowa back in contemporary times.

(Jeopardy music) AL: "Which one will I take?"

Unfortunately, fixed it for you.

Penn St doesn't have AIRBHG though.

You really think AIRBHG is worse than what PSU is going thru and will continue to go thru for several years?

There are still a lot more things that will be coming to light during the criminal trials that the FREEH report failed to address. PSU's ordeal will be getting worse before it gets better.

Anyway, Kirk recently made a deal with AIRBHG - "I'll give you DJ if you leave AL alone", so it's all good.

If Lynch comes, don't you just about have to redshirt one of them? Three guys bunched up at the same position in the same class isn't ideal.

actually even if 1 redshirts it puts 3 in the same class as canzeri redshirts this yr.

i think if no one redshirts and lynch comes it is likely garmon becomes a wr...i know it would take a rb away but i just think you have to find ways to get those guys on the field.

Garmon came here to be a rb though, I don't think he wants to play another position based on some quotes I read of his.

Garmon received a ton of offers. The Erie Times-News reported that he heard from 40 schools. He ranked as The Sporting News’ No. 93 player in the country.

Now, not all of Garmon’s conversations with schools were about the running back position, which was a big deal for him. His final two choices were Iowa and Miami (Fla.), which offered him as a defensive back.

“I’ll definitely be a running back there,â€￾ Garmon said.

Be honest with me here. Do you think that there was some extra motivation to drop the hammer on De'Andre, knowing that it would provide an extra incentive to Akeel to choose Iowa?

It's my opinion that things like this never enter the equation with KF. He messed up twice, and he wasn't a freshman. Save me some time please, he was a sophomore correct?

Thanks. I didn't want to read the entire thread. I'm fine with this, we do pretty good at RB usually. Extremely good given our misfortune at this position. IMO, D line is where we could use some help, and where the young guys need to grow in a hurry. Favorable schedule early to allow growth.

I think we'll be ok this year. Gut feeling is that some experts will be surprised. We'll all know pretty quick.

I agree with your assessment. Our Rb's usually step up, but our D-line is where I am most concerned.

Yes. I'm not an airbag believer. I'm not a believer in shanks either. And I prolly shouldn't mention either word, but just did. And guess what? We'll all still be fine tomorrow.

Haha, I don't know what to think of the Airbhg, but I will see we seem to have some misfortune when it comes to rb's and injuries/ troubles. More so than most Colleges it seems.

i understand that he did...but that doesnt mean he wouldnt change...i believe he would be the most likely.

dallas clark came to be a lb
gallery came to be a te
mcnutt came to be a qb

those are just 3 that come to mind right away (and are pros)...meier came to be a rb and many (including me) think he will end up on defense. if lynch comes think about how the classes work out if no one redshirts. if someone redshirts then everyone could stay rb but it would still be lopsided with the rbs.

2013 (all hypothetical with lynch) - no redshirts
lynch - soph
canzeri - soph
garmon - soph
hill - soph
bullock - jr

2013 (all hypothetical with lynch) - 1 redshirt
lynch - soph
canzeri - soph
garmon - soph
hill - rs frosh (i will give him the shirt as he might be the most accepting of it)
bullock - jr

i am almost 100% expecting meier to rs and move to defense or fb.

in either scenario (with lynch coming) you are looking at 3 rbs in the same class. someone will likely switch positions if that is the case. i am saying that when i look at all the rbs the guy that could be the most likely is garmon because he would be an immediate impact at wr...this is all hypothetical on lynch coming to iowa. if he doesnt we still seem to have a lot of rbs in one class...i know the track record but i am hoping we dont continue the streak with this group...especially after they see johnson get booted.

I know that players switched, in fact as I wrote it I thought of McNutt. I just know McNutt wanted to do whatever it took to get on the field. He could have transfered but didn't, because playing time was more important to him than position.

But, the fact that Garmon stressed the rb position, and turned down other schools that wanted him at different positions showed how he felt on switching. I could definitely be wrong, for sure, but just thought based on that he may not be too apt to switching.

When I first saw his tapes, I thought he had a receiver body anyway. If he is ok with switching if need be down the road, I would embrace him as a wr.

Yep, people said the same thing with Brinson, Hampton, Robinson, and Wegher. Probably said the same with Young, Sims, Schnoor, and Simmons.

i just see it as a thing of getting as many playmakers on the field as possible and garmon is a playmaker (not sure if he is a true rb). i see him as the likely canidate to move if anyone. i think he could end up like marvin in that you could convince him his best shot at nfl is as a wr...if it comes to that.

i would love to see hill (or lynch if he comes) at the single back with kmm and keenan on the outsides and cjf at te with garmon in the slot. that would give a lot of problems to match up and reverse options with garmon. some speed (garmon), some power (hill/lynch), some size (cjf), some skill (kmm and keenan). could be as versatile and tough personnel as iowa has walked onto the field recently.
