Davis is the OC

Re: Davis New OC

His results are what scare me. He won't have the recruits he did at Texas and he wasn't liked there.

This will go down as the worst move Ferentz ever made. Timestamp that.

Yeah, because look how great that talent in Texas has been flourishing ever since they got rid of Davis' sorry ***...

I didn't know we were hiring a head coach.

I'd love to hear how his being a poor head coach for 3 years in the late 80's and early 90's would mean he'd be a bad offensive coordinator in 2012 and beyond after he has already had successful offenses at one of the best football programs ever.

I'm interested in these poor overall offensive numbers that he's claiming.

By looking at the offensive stats over the past 10 years or so for TX, they are about 52% run and 48% pass in all years except 2009. Very balanced attack.

Only in 2006 was Iowa balanced. All other years we very much relied on the run first mentality. 60/40 was our split between run and pass.

Expect to see more passing but still maintaining control on the ground.

his overall offense numbers look pretty good from my brief review. Can you be a little more specific?

Going back to 2004 they were a top 15 offense in the country in total offense every year but once (2006 #26) & #2 in 2005

did forget to add in his last year (2010) where they were something like 73rd in total offense.

OC's and DC's are the easiest targets for mouthbreathers everywhere, 99% of college football fans think one, or both, of their coordinators suck, and the 1% that don't will unless they win the title for the second consecutive year.

Final season offense rankings
Texas
2010 - 74
2009 - 11
2008 - 11
2007 - 13
2006 - 26
2005 - 2
2004 - 11

Iowa
2010 - 52
2009 - 83
2008 - 48
2007 - 105
2006 - 32
2005 - 27
2004 - 83

You tell me, is this even close? Iowa's best season was worse than all of TX's worse season except the 2010 outlier.
