Cord Cutters Feedback Wanted for watching Hawkeye Football Games

good move. one thing at a time. I'd be surprised if you get all of those at no additional cost though. If its true report back.

my boy watches movies still in the theater - he gets all the Iowa hoops games that you have to pay the BTN to stream for at the beginning of the season. Wanna watch the new Jack Ryan series on Amazon? No problem. Wanna watch Netflix? No Problem. Game of Thrones on HBO? No problem.

It all seems too good to be true - but I've been over to his place and witnessed it. You can basically hack the fire stick and get everything for free. - I'm probably now on a watch list tho

I've heard that it isn't really that great, that there are glitches, and such. Plus plain and simple it is stealing, you can try to sugar coat it all you want and say millions do it, but it is stealing.

I agree - it's 100% stealing. I've paid over $200 a month for DTV for the last 15 years of my life tho and I've decided I'm ok with it if I try it out and it works.

I mean, I am gonna sleep the same but with just more money in the bank. I've been a law abiding citizen my entire life and where's that got me? Not in jail I guess, but I sometimes go 75 in a 70 on the way to IC too.

I haven't converted yet, but have been considering. I have a Firestick and have been testing for a few months. I haven't subscribed to a streaming service yet, but I've downloaded ESPN and FoxSportsMW app and all work and have great picture. The only thing I don't like, is that there is a fairly significant lag in the stream versus watching on DISH.

For the guy asking about Kodi, we have it downloaded, but it's mostly crap. We've watched a few movies, but all you're doing is watching mostly poor quality pirated movies.

I never had good luck with Kodi. I use Terrarium TV. 100 times better than Kodi for movies and tv shows in my opinion.

I say to each his own. People stealing cable and pirating music and movies has gone on for ages. These companies know that and I am sure is a part of their business formula. You Go Boy!!

So because you decided to purchase something for 15 years from said company, you feel it is ok to steal from a different company? When in fact it is the new companies that you are stealing from who actually gave you a viable option to drop said overpriced company to begin with?

I guess I don't get it.

Let me preface this by saying that I am the stereotypical old dude that is technologically challenged, so please do not be too hard on me. My 8 year old grandson is not available, so I'm calling on you for help.

I signed up for YoutubeTV due to the Comcast/BTN issue. I checked the program schedule for tomorrow and the Iowa game is not listed. In full panic mode! Do I also have to sign up for Big10 Plus?

I'm just not gonna be shamed for it and if I get caught, I'll deal with the ramifications. I know the risk. I also know it's not the "right" thing to do. I've figured out that I've probably spent around $40,000 in cable, movies, sports on TV and streaming services over the last 15 years while I know more friends then I can count on both hands that get it for next to nothing with absolutely no backlash. That's me being an the idiot.

Yep, so everyone else has to pay more, because companies build into their pricing the fact that some are gonna steal.

yeah, I am ok with it. I get that it's wrong and I don't care.

So now you are an idiot if you DON'T steal?

man, I get where you're rolling with this Dean, and that's fine. Stealing is wrong. I know it's wrong, I don't care anymore.... I didn't state you were an idiot if you didn't steal, that's kind of twisting things a bit, but yeah, I'm an idiot who's been paying through the nose and I know a way I don't need to ever pay for it again. I also know the risk, I am ok with that risk. The fine that I would have to pay. I'm also an entertainer who sells music. It gets stolen from me daily. It's being stolen as we speak. That's never bothered me.

Look, I also haven't done it yet...but I did take the first steps today.

One could argue DirecTV has been "stealing" for quite the while...

No. Just get BTN2Go (free) and you should be fine

I would never ever twist the words of a fellow anonymous website poster!

I guess I just don't get it. You were paying out the nose BEFORE, but now that companies are actually offering cheap entertainment options you feel the need to begin stealing from them? Think about it, you want to steal from the companies who are actually making it possible and viable to get away from the overpriced company that was gouging you for years? I just can't follow that logic. I'm happy that entertainment has gotten cheap, and easier access.

I get what you're saying - and they do charge a lot for things people are getting for free by stealing it. But, I chose to pay for their service. I like having everything. I am willing to pay for everything as I have done it for years and years. I pay extra for Netflix, Hulu, - I get all the movie channels cause I like the original programming on almost all of em. I pay the sports packages, I buy the BTN stream for hoops. I spend a lot of money because it's just money - I make plenty of it and if I wasn't watching TV I would be out spending more of it. I am just gonna see how this works. I am gonna check it out. If I feel dirty, I might chose not to do it. If I feel like I am a bad person I won't. I've struggled with getting myself to do it for years now as I watch tons of acquaintances get it for free. I am gonna try it out. Roast me if you may.

Not roasting you. I'm agreeing with you. DirecTV has been providing inferior service for years, charging "hidden" fees, using deceptive methods to get people to add channels they didn't actually want, etc. Hell, if you're up for robbing their corporate offices, I'd be good--at a minimum--for getaway driver!

I am too, and trust me, I have looked into the cheaper more viable options... but once I start adding it all up, I'm still going to be paying a lot and I may chose to just get rid of some stuff. I also need more things to accomplish what I currently am accustomed to. The reason I want to try this? Is that I supposedly get EVERYTHING and that seems really cool. I would happily pay for it if they charged me, but they don't and that's what I want.
