Clowns want in the Big Ten

I hate to say it, but it is only a matter of time before the Big Twelve decides it needs to improve its strength of schedule. That means either adding good teams or getting rid of bad ones. So, who is the Big Twelve going to add. I doubt Memphis or Tulsa will stand up to years of playing against all those Texas teams much better than either Iowa State or Kansas. Bringing in another far away team like West Virginia might be possible, but those arrangements are unstable at best.

The other option for the Big Twelve is to drop a really bad team. Kansas stays because of basketball. Iowa State has excellent wrestling, sometimes competitive basketball, and some other sports. Lets face it, Iowa State was in the old Big Eight and stayed when the league brought the old Southwest conference teams in.

They might do best with some sort of split arrangement with football leaving the Big Twelve, and most of the rest of the sports staying in the Big Twelve. None of the choices are all that good. I think the Mountain West would be the best fit for football. Iowa State has far more resources than either Wyoming or New Mexico. Playing football in the west and all the other sports in the south might even help recruiting. Having a chance to be competitive might also help.

I've thought for quite some time that they'd be a good fit in the Mountain West. A lot if it would make sense for them.

Mountain West Conference Football

Mountain Division
Boise State or BYU
Colorado State
Iowa State
Air Force
Utah State
Tulsa

West Division
Fresno State
San Diego State
San Jose State
Nevada
UNLV
Hawaii or BYU or Boise State

Note: Football is very expensive for Hawaii. There is some talk of dropping it.

i think isu would get owned in this conference as well. and much more expensive - california is a long ways away. heck, salt lake city is a 17 hour drive without any stops - now i realize they are flying - but still.

I've seen posters who say they should cheat like "everyone else does". Then there's their motto, honor before victory. Honor is a rare thing over there.
I'm talking UNC level of cheating. SMU level of cheating. They already have the low academic admission standards and the local police in their pockets. Double down! Pay players. Pay refs. Pay hookers. Ride the lightning until they get burned.

I love Iowa state fans! They're kind of like the parent of the kid who loves sports but isn't very good so he never gets to play but is always going out anyway!

Akron, UNLV, San Jose St. UNI........There are some open dates that still need to be figured out, but that is what you are basically looking at for the next several years.

I said guaranteed wins, not toss ups.

In recent history ISU>Nebby. ISU has very few teams if any that it can compete with in the Big 12. I would like their chances better against Big 10 teams.

Correction, ISU used to have excellent wrestling. They have been irrelevant for quite a few years now. Big 12 doesn't give a crap about wrestling. Only a few of their schools have it.

So, is "recent history" since 2010?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 47-20 with 5 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 22-40 with 2 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 34-30 with 4 bowl games.

Or, is "recent history" since 2005?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 88-44 with 9 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 45-78 with 4 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 73-54 with 8 bowl games.

Or, is "recent history" since 2000?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 131-68 with 13 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 77-108 with 8 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 115-75 with 12 bowl games.

Either you have confused "<" (less than) with ">" (greater than) or you are quite delusional.

Iowa needs to end the ISU game and be done with it forever. Most years, Iowa improves the ISU strength of schedule or at least doesn't hurt it. Almost always, ISU F's up Iowa's SOS. It is a "lose, lose" game for Iowa & it always will be.

They're not going to find a weaker P5 conference than the B12. They were 4-5 vs other P5 cons. this season with the best win being TCU by 6 over Minny.

SMU, Lamar, Buffalo, Rice, Northwestern State, Woffard, UL Monroe, Sam Houston. Who are those teams, you ask?

Why those are the teams that make up the #2 Ranked Baylor Bear's non-conference schedule the past few years. Not a power 5 conference team to be found.

Also, they lost their last two bowl games to Michigan State and Central Florida.

K-State played South Dakota, UTSA and La Tech.

Okie State played Central Mich., Central Ark, and UTSA.

Iowa played 2 "Power 5" conference teams in their non-conference schedule. How many other Power 5 conference schools can say that? It is not Iowa's fault that ISU is f-ing horrible every year.

No kidding. Heck Iowa could win the Big12 playing Baylors schedule. #SOS124 #PlaysinMoutainWest #easiestP5Scheduleever

Maybe they should worry about getting a new D coordinator prior to changing conferences. Maybe start first by playing some damn defense. Way to set the bar lower for your team by thinking you are going to a less conference, at least in the OP delusional eyes.

Their head coach was a defensive coordinator haha! That's the part that I find to be the most hilarious. Their defense has been consistently garbage during Rhoads tenure. Actually, for the most part, everything has been garbage. ISU fans can thank Jake Knott and AJ Klein for Rhoads tenure lasting this long. Without them two it would have been over a long time ago.
