Clowns want in the Big Ten

Just what in the hell is in that water over there in Ames? That 7 page thread reminds me of the part in the movie, "The Doors", when Val Kilmer and crew experienced peyote in the desert (was that ever f**ked up) CyFan is even worse, holy mackerel...

We usually hear this kind of talk about the toughness of the Big 12 in BB too during the regular season. Year in and year out, the Big 12 has proved to be a paper tiger in BB, too. Blah, Blah. ISU fans need to just shut up and realize that their team would be no more than average in the MAC.

Should ISU ever raise their admission standards and be allowed to join the Big 10, they will find out the same as Penn State, Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland have found out. (maybe life was a bit easier where they came from)

In recent history ISU>Nebby. ISU has very few teams if any that it can compete with in the Big 12. I would like their chances better against Big 10 teams.

ISU could play Nebraska 100 time and maybe beat them once or twice. I believe it took 9 fumbles by Nebraska including about 5 inside the 10 yard line for ISU's last win over Nebraska.

1. There is no defense in the B12. None whatsoever. It's horrible. They brag about their sexy offensive performances, but when they meet teams who actually play defense we'll see what happens.

2.Cyclone Fanatic should charge admission right now. It's very entertaining. Fire Rhoads. Fire Pollard. Join the B10. Write a letter to Pollard. Pollard blocked me on Twitter. It's worth the trip over there to watch the meltdown.

3. Meanwhile Chrissy is silent. He's going to have a difficult time trying to spin this one. Maybe he'll actually see the light after they were destroyed with over 700 yards of offense.

4. I wonder what Pollard will do. Seems like everyone is calling for heads now. It's certainly not a minority anymore.

5. I'm enjoying this way too much. It's like when you drive by a car crash. You have to look. Only this isn't a normal crash. It's a few buses that crashed carrying a bunch of Clowns and now they are all angry and disoriented.

ISU should be able to get talent from Texas/OK that are overlooked by in state schools. They can promise those recruits 1/2 of conference games against those schools where parents can watch them, respect/revenge, etc.

Nebby is finding it more difficult to recruit Tex/OK because they do not play in Tex/OK.

More importantly, if they are going to recruit fast huge receivers and have WR unit as the best unit on the team maybe they should recruit a QB that can throw the ball to them and OL that can pass protect.

Agree completely with this. Texas recruits will leave the state to play for other schools at compete against Texas schools. I knew Nebby screwed their recruiting by joining the Big. I don't see how ISU will ever be able to compete in FB. I really beleive their best option would be to join the MAC and hopefully become the Boise ST of that conference.

It'll be funny listening to him on his radio show this week try to spin this in an attempt to keep his forum posters engaged for the remainder of the season. He spent the whole show Friday driving home how easy Iowa's schedule was and how he thinks they should win the West cause of how easy it looks. He then talked up his clown football team talking about how much better this team is from last year and that he thought iSu didn't need the points and would win outright. He also thinks the clowns are going to beat Texas. Then what happens? Clowns quit on their coach and get trucked and Texas beats Oklahoma. Him and Blum are going to have to lay the lipstick on extra thick this week. They do have the "blown call" in the end zone to get the masses fired up at least....#itsnotfair....#Big12conspiracy.....#largescoreboards.....#tapwater

At the very least to get away from those conspiring Big12 refs. They've had it out for you guys ever since that vote thing and it's just not fair. I also forgot about the 9 fumble game where you guys laid the wood to Nebby and became better than the Huskers in "recent history"....my bad. Here's a little food for thought. It takes more than playing in the B1G to be a solid football team that can win. The players have to believe in their coach and play for each other as well. I've said it before, if your football team played with even a fraction of the heart they play with against Iowa against the rest of their schedule they'd be a better football team. Too many time in "recent history" Roads has played the woe is us card or it's not fair card and it's coming back to bite him in the ***. Portray yourself as a victim too many times and that's what your culture becomes. I've thought this ever since he went on his whiny tirade after the texas debacle with the non fumble. That's why you see most coaches always saying "no we shouldn't of put ourselves in that position" It keeps the team from throwing up their arms and saying "its' not fair" Once that culture sets in...it's over. You guys need a new coach.
Someone who's going to bring in a culture of "no excuses" Look at KState last night. That team is on par with iSu talent wise. The difference is they played their *** off for Snyder. His players always do.

WOW! If only the clown football team could achieve the entertainment level that their message board has they would be a N C team! Just when you think they can't get any more delusional..............they never disappoint.

If the Clowns really want to win enough football games to go to bowl games every year, they have 2 options. Club down (join a mid major conf) or CHEAT! Pony up some dough and start paying players from Texas and California to come to ISU. That's it and that's all. Choose one.
Game planning to play a BIG team like Iowa in the OOC, isn't the same as playing the BIG schedule. You dont get 2 months to put together a package together.

I think ISU should consider joining the IIAC. Wartburg would still beat them but I think they might be competitive with Luther or Central.

The only other option ISU might have is to hire a guy that commits to winning in the trenches with a power running game. It would take a few years to develop interior line talent but that's the only way to do it. Slow Big 12 offenses down by grinding their defenses on the ground. They can't do that with JUCO players, however. They have to build it first, then they can bring in JUCOs that fit the mold.

I listen to every Miller podcast and after the ISU wrap up I can't recall the clowns being discussed at all. The clowns and their media honks seem to be obsessed with Iowa and their "easy" schedule. They don't even care about their own team they just care about Iowa failing, it's getting sad.

On on a side note id like the clown to play the defenses we have and see how easy it is. The 12 is a finesse soft league.

ISU is just never going to be good at football on a consistent basis. There are the number 2 university in a state with a small population. The majority of in state division 1 talent will end up at Iowa. If I was offered full ride to both UNI and ISU, I'd chose UNI. I'd rather compete for a title at a smaller school than get pounded week in and week out.

Iowa State has nothing to offer the Big Ten. All they would be is competition for Indiana and Purdue. Revenue wise they bring nothing so why give them a $25 million payday every year? This is the Big Ten, you need to bring it every Saturday. Ask Penn State and Nebraska. Two powerful storied programs and they take their lumps every year.

Clown posters are delusional. They think because they fight Iowa hard that they can compete over here? Really? It's a non-conference game for Iowa. Iowa always treats it like that. Conference games are different. It matters. ISU is irrelevant. Make them part of the Big Ten west and they'll have a losing streak like they had when Hayden was here.

I was thinking this as well.

Also, I think that the first Big 12 team to assemble a solid BIG-style defense could actually dominate the conference. Look at what Minnesota did with TCU, and Minnesota is not an elite defense. These offenses in the Big 12 are awesome to watch, but as a BIG fan I am always horrified by the defensive performances.

ISU should put together a power running game that eats clock, and combine that with a legitimate defense that is built around a consistent pass rush and stopping the run. Actually, any improvement over where they are currently would be helpful.

Either they need a "gimmick" like GA. Tech/ Navy OR they need to do this. Arkansas has had mix results doing this under BB. Big difference Arkansas is looking for titles, ISU is just looking to be competitive. So it very well could work with the right coach. Briefly, very briefly, that is where I thought Rhoads was going, but obviously not.

i've seen time and time again on that board - going back years - that if ISU were in the b10, they'd be rose bowling, and if iowa were in the b12, they'd be where isu is now. they believe it.

Based on PPG:

The Big 12's top Defense (West Virginia) would only be 6th best in the BIG.
ISU's defense would only be 12th best in the BIG.

Just for fun: The BIG's best offense (Ohio State) would only be 5th best in the Big 12.

Defense wins championships.

I hate nebby, and I actually don't hate isu. That said, No, isu has Not been better that nebby, almost ever, except when nebby gifts 8 turnovers.

isu is historically a 1-4 win team is any p5 conference.

To think anything different is delusional.
