Clowns want in the Big Ten

The only other option ISU might have is to hire a guy that commits to winning in the trenches with a power running game. It would take a few years to develop interior line talent but that's the only way to do it. Slow Big 12 offenses down by grinding their defenses on the ground. They can't do that with JUCO players, however. They have to build it first, then they can bring in JUCOs that fit the mold.
Agree. ISU is trying to do a "power" running game in a spread field (maybe so they can go uptempo pass when they fall behind?).

I think the key to your comment is "commits to winning in the trenches". Always has been, always will be.

The thread and comments over on CF are epic. I swear it is a seven page troll on Hawkeye message boards. Is it worth clicking over? Oh yeah. It is awesome. Opportunities like this don't come around this often.

Yep. Plus if they could develop above average lineman on both sides of the ball then they'd start to see an advantage come B12 play. Overall the B12 is very weak up front. That has to be their strategy moving forward. They have to be realistic about the talent they can reel in. They have to figure out a system that works with that talent, and most importantly they need to find a head coach who excels at player development and requires an excellent strength program. Rhoads and his staff have been downright awful developing players.

Where is this coming from? Yeah, I want to be a member at Augusta, too however there's a few
hurdles.

Heck though, if it were up to me, I'd trade them in, for Nebraska Junior college out.

Iowa will never allow them in. It simply won't ever happen. Plus, we don't bring any TV sets with the Clowns.....

I don't think Iowa would have enough pull to "never allow them in". However, I don't think the front office at the Big 10 would ever let them in. They already have the Iowa and Nebraska cable outlets for the BTN; Iowa State wouldn't bring anything else to the table.

In recent history ISU>Nebby. ISU has very few teams if any that it can compete with in the Big 12. I would like their chances better against Big 10 teams.

So, is "recent history" since 2010?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 47-20 with 5 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 22-40 with 2 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 34-30 with 4 bowl games.

Or, is "recent history" since 2005?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 88-44 with 9 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 45-78 with 4 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 73-54 with 8 bowl games.

Or, is "recent history" since 2000?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 131-68 with 13 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 77-108 with 8 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 115-75 with 12 bowl games.

Either you have confused "<" (less than) with ">" (greater than) or you are quite delusional.

The power running game in a spread field is what Oregon has done for years. It isn't working out this year because their defense is weak, but in the past they have run all over the Pac-12 (and Pac-10).

I want to know what cupcake guaranteed wins they are going to schedule for the non conference.

Akron, UNLV, San Jose St. UNI........There are some open dates that still need to be figured out, but that is what you are basically looking at for the next several years.

Then you need a AD who is not only a number cruncher, but a guy who understands football......I mean really understands football.

It happens every year and they NEVER learn. By August of next season whatever changes were made will lead the majority on that site to expect a bowl game and a better season than Iowa. And yet again it will not happen. That's a big reason why they have a 12,000+ post thread about Iowa basketball recruiting. They know they suck at football so they try to insult our basketball program. Only problem is our basketball program is relatively successful currently and has a strong history. Their football program has neither of those things.
They have a strong history of losing.

Cyfan has just pulled what 0K4P tried and never could. The rare and spectacular cross board troll. [slow clap]

If the Clowns really want to win enough football games to go to bowl games every year, they have 2 options. Club down (join a mid major conf) or CHEAT! Pony up some dough and start paying players from Texas and California to come to ISU. That's it and that's all. Choose one.
Game planning to play a BIG team like Iowa in the OOC, isn't the same as playing the BIG schedule. You dont get 2 months to put together a package together.
I've seen posters who say they should cheat like "everyone else does". Then there's their motto, honor before victory. Honor is a rare thing over there.
