Clowns want in the Big Ten

Their head coach was a defensive coordinator haha! That's the part that I find to be the most hilarious. Their defense has been consistently garbage during Rhoads tenure. Actually, for the most part, everything has been garbage. ISU fans can thank Jake Knott and AJ Klein for Rhoads tenure lasting this long. Without them two it would have been over a long time ago.

You might want to add Jesse Smith to that list if he doesn't get that strip of the Minnesota QB(forgot his name)........Rhoads would have a big goose egg for bowl victories.

Sidenote: You are on point with the lack of development angle.

If the Clowns really want to win enough football games to go to bowl games every year, they have 2 options. Club down (join a mid major conf) or CHEAT! Pony up some dough and start paying players from Texas and California to come to ISU. That's it and that's all. Choose one.
Game planning to play a BIG team like Iowa in the OOC, isn't the same as playing the BIG schedule. You dont get 2 months to put together a package together.

^^^^^ this ^^^^^ See: Nebraska and Penn State. Old Joe and Penn State are the supreme example. Competing for National titles year in and year out and then join the Big Ten and get the crap beat out of them every week. Finally at the end of the year, instead of their team being touted as a nation championship contender they are limping into a local hospital trying to recover.

The girls from Notre Dame know what conference not to join.

Well I tired...I got halfway through page 2 and just had to stop reading. It's just too painful.
me too. Although there are a couple of posters that seem to have a grasp on reality, many of them are just straight crazy. How can you be so bad for so long and yet think you are better than most teams in a different power 5 conference? Just admit you suck and demand change. Or lap up whatever you AD is feeding to you, and watch some old speeches on YouTube and hope those "glory days" come back around some day.

I hate to say it, but it is only a matter of time before the Big Twelve decides it needs to improve its strength of schedule. That means either adding good teams or getting rid of bad ones. So, who is the Big Twelve going to add. I doubt Memphis or Tulsa will stand up to years of playing against all those Texas teams much better than either Iowa State or Kansas. Bringing in another far away team like West Virginia might be possible, but those arrangements are unstable at best.

The other option for the Big Twelve is to drop a really bad team. Kansas stays because of basketball. Iowa State has excellent wrestling, sometimes competitive basketball, and some other sports. Lets face it, Iowa State was in the old Big Eight and stayed when the league brought the old Southwest conference teams in.

They might do best with some sort of split arrangement with football leaving the Big Twelve, and most of the rest of the sports staying in the Big Twelve. None of the choices are all that good. I think the Mountain West would be the best fit for football. Iowa State has far more resources than either Wyoming or New Mexico. Playing football in the west and all the other sports in the south might even help recruiting. Having a chance to be competitive might also help.

With all the ribbing and joking aside in this thread I have heard this type of talk from many people about what you are suggesting and how it might be in the best interest of the football ball program in Ames. Good post.

So your solution is to have Moo U play a JV football schedule with very little chance to go a any bowl?

I'm talking UNC level of cheating. SMU level of cheating. They already have the low academic admission standards and the local police in their pockets. Double down! Pay players. Pay refs. Pay hookers. Ride the lightning until they get burned.
Do you really think they're capable of pulling that off? You need some brains to pull a scam. I guess they did pull a scam. Fans bought in to the Paul Rhoads is a great coach.

Defensive head coach and Wally the Wizard as d-coordinator. Remember cyfans talking about how they would always be a contender because they had Wally. They ran Tom Herman out of town and now they're begging to get him as head coach. They brought in Mark Mangino because he would make their offense unstoppable. It's a broken record over there.

Chris Williams is now saying all is lost for this season and he's telling his 7 month old daughter what it's like to be a Cyclone fan. TALK ABOUT CHILD ABUSE.

is Saturday morning, I was getting Cami ready to go run a few errands with daddy. I love talking to my little girl. I often ramble to her about life. She tends to blankly stare at me as I spout off random advice for her future while telling her about my day.
On this day, for some reason I randomly began to explain to her what it is like to be an Iowa State fan. Halfway through my message, the idea came to my mind to Periscope our “conversation.” I figured it could be a “lesson” to all out there.

Ok Chrissy, whatever that means, your daughter will likely want to go to Iowa, so ya better pony up some dough, and be sure to buy her a nice Iowa Hawkeye sweatshirt

I understand child abuse. I am a Cubs fan like my father & his father before him. My kids also were abused.

Why on earth would you encourage your kid to be a Cyclone fan? That's like saying "Hey son... I just signed us up for something fun! We're going to go get kicked in the nuts every Saturday for the next 12 weeks! Can't wait!".

Seriously. If you enjoy the game of football, which A LOT of people do, then why put yourself or your kids through that kind of eternal suffering? There is no fun in watching or cheering for one of the worst football programs in history. Show some love for your kid(s) and encourage them to broaden their horizons.

So, is "recent history" since 2010?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 47-20 with 5 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 22-40 with 2 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 34-30 with 4 bowl games.

Or, is "recent history" since 2005?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 88-44 with 9 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 45-78 with 4 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 73-54 with 8 bowl games.

Or, is "recent history" since 2000?
In that time frame, Nebraska goes 131-68 with 13 bowl games.
In that time frame, ISU goes 77-108 with 8 bowl games.
By the way, in that time frame Iowa goes 115-75 with 12 bowl games.

Either you have confused "<" (less than) with ">" (greater than) or you are quite delusional.

They also claim to be better than Minnesota and Northwestern

Since 2000
Northwestern is 94-91 with a conference co-championship, 8 bowl games, and a dismal 1-7 bowl record.

Minnesota is 90-97 with 11 bowl games, a 10 win season, and a 3-8 bowl record.

ISU is 3-5 in their bowls over that time, 3 bowl wins all-time, which happens to be as many wins as Ricky Stanzi.

Would an Ames hooker really be considered an incentive?
