oh screw Bama, What you cant insert "just kidding " emojis anymore?

Hey, OK4P, were you a Bama fan back when they stunk before Stallings had his short term good run and then they stunk after stallings when every coach they hired was like the litany of Nebby coaches since Osborne. Actually, Bama was Nebby before Nebby was Nebby!!!!!

Hell a couple of new Bama coaches never made it to the start of their first season because of some such type of indiscretion

My dad and granddad made me an Iowa fan by birth, but my dad realized the importance of having a backup team and made me a secondary Bama fan because he loved Bear Bryant and knew that cheering for Iowa would be a lifetime of futility. We have all kinds of Bama shit from the 70's. My earliest Hawk memories are the '85 squad and my dad telling me that I would never see another Iowa team like that one. 2002 gives it a helluva run, but I don't know that his prediction was wrong.

Bama's second dynasty is done, though. They're gonna be done in by the same thing as Iowa. The state is too damned small for them to compete against the big boys in the NIL game and Auburn pulls a chunk of fans as well, which just doesn't bode well for small states. Clemson is in the same boat.

Frankly, I love the way Alabama demands excellence. They don't keep marginal coaches. Guys put up average or losing seasons and they get their asses fired. I like that they swing for the fences.

Yeah if Texas, CA schools don't really enter the fray now I'll be surprised. I mean how Texas has struggled for as long as they have is crazy to me. They've recruited well. How many recruiting classes has Iowa had as good as theirs the last 10-15 yrs? It's just the coaches they've had since Brown left have sucked. Schools like USC, UCLA, Oregon, with $ coming out of their ears will get good again too.

Not to want to wish our lives away or anything but I'll be more curious about how things will be in 5-10 yrs from now. Literally anything can happen these next couple yrs but once things level out what'll the new normal be

Imagine being a fan of a team the caliber of Texas and realizing the high water mark of your program this millennium was when Greg Davis was the offensive coordinator.

That is pretty anemic for your wideouts in modern day college P5 football, but remember Kirk throws a lot to the TEnds and Rbacks so that is where a lot of catches are, and yet still anemic at whatever low ranking our offense had.

He doesn't throw to the RB's enough to keep the D more honest, IMO.

Because this thing called NIL started since after the season ended.
I don't think so. Guys were able to make deals starting last july of 2021. Goodson and Linderbaum and I'm sure others were doing well with it all year long. Jones timing is a bit head scratching. I would think either prior to spring ball or right after it would make sense. Unless something changed...

I was gunna put that maybe during and after spring ball he knew he wasn't going to crack the depth chart in the WR 2 deeps or increase his touches all that much more. That is prob why he's choosing to leave. We all know he's a good return man, but I think to show his talent he was wanting more pass attempts. Prob more the case.

Lol, On offense we swing for slow rollers and hope the defense throws it over the head of the first baseman.

It’s been said earlier that CJ is friends with O’Connell. FWIW, he happens to have Jeff Christiansen (Jake’s dad) as a QB coach back home

That is true as your running back is most often given a fake carry in Kirk's playaction offense. I have posted on here many times that supposedly your running backs are your best open field runner and if they can catch, which they should be able to do, then they should be a top target or at least an easy backup target for a good completion.

Yes, you want to get your big chunk plays down the field with your wideouts and TEnds but TGoodson and Wadley showed what you can do getting a running back guarded by a linebacker after the receivers have cleared out space.

Seriously, one of the worst power five offensive coordinators and still has a job and has QB coach added to his responsibility of which he has ZERO experience. Yah just couldnt make up this shit if you tried.
It's almost laughable. He's been OC for what 5 yrs now? What OC at a power 5 with his resume would continue to keep his job? OCs get fired all over the place all the time for doing a heck of a lot better than BF has. He's just fortunate to have won a lot of games. That's what KF can hide behind in regards to keeping him but man.... It's not like BF is doing a great job or anything. He's gotten a few Olineman and TEs drafted and what else? I mean Iowas won despite the offense most of the time not because of it. I'm not sure how it can be looked at differently especially during Petras tenure.

This part ^^^^ is what is illogical looking at KF's perspective. There are a lot of very good OCs out there and some do not have jobs as OCs and some have a job as an OC that they would leave to be OC at Iowa.

Sometimes when Kirk says something to the effect of 'well yeah we want to win every game or as many as we can' but then he just keeps dicking around about not trying to put a really good offense out on the field.

Most teams have gone past the 290-300 pound offensive linemen as they can find 320 pounders who are still fast, strong, and quick. And that extra 20 to 30 pounds makes a difference during a game. Defensive front sevens are getting bigger and stronger too while the hawks OLine remains smallish by today's standards.

Having a weak OC for the past 10 years as well as proportionately smaller offensive lines as well as our usual lack of some more outstanding WOuts makes it just more and more difficult to have even a Top 60 offense or better, let alone an offense that can win championships, even a Natty Champ, with the kinds of defenses and special teams we have.

GOOD. I HOPE THE DOOR DOESN'T HIT HIM IN THE ASS ON HIS WAY OUT. WE DIDN'T NEED HIM ANYWAY AND FRANKLY I DIDN'T WANT HIM ON THE ROSTER ANYMORE. DUDE LOST A STEP IN THE RETURN GAME AND OVERESTIMATED HIS SPEED GIVING US BAD FIELD POSITION TOO MANY TIMES. I LIKE THE WR CORPS WHO WE HAVE AND HAD THIS GUY SLATED AS THE THIRD STRING KR/PR AND FOURTH STRING WR, SO THIS IS ADDITION BY SUBTRACTION BECAUSE HE'S NOT SIPHONING REPS AWAY FROM GUYS WHO WANT TO PLAY.

It warms my heart to see the MIghty Text once again
