Charlie Jones in the portal

Getting separation only matters for the first game of the season against a cupcake because that's the only time any of our QBs will be able to hit a deep pass. Might as well not have anyone who can get separation and then use what would otherwise be a deep shot to run a stretch play to the short side of the field on second and 9. Third and 8 is better than third and 9.

What are some movie mistakes that only made them better? - Quora

The Truth

The Bloody Truth

Rather strange thing just happened

Sitting in bed in boxer shorts, on the laptop

Suddenly felt a sting on my thigh and a buzzing sound/ eeling underneath me

Took the shorts off and went to the porch, put the light on

Looked inside my shorts and there was a very large hornet stuck in there

Turned them inside out and flapped them out the door

MFer left the scene

First time for everything they say

This is exactly what the MFer looked like

Charlie made some plays for the Hawkeyes. I suspect they're really bearing down on the WR position and trying to elevate the talent back up to and beyond ISM levels. Face it guys, just because we like a player does not mean they were more than average.

I think part of the perfect storm last year was that the WRs could not get open often enough. And couldn't make plays on the 50/50 balls. They gotta fix that if they want to elevate the offense. Its not the only thing but its part of the thing.

Well the good news is Brecht didn't set the world on fire pitching under pressure so he's not going to drop football to go pro in baseball anytime soon. Hopefully he can be a long lanky target in the redzone (if we ever can get in there)

I'm over it. Kakert threw out the following names as possible replacements as PR/KR for Jones: Bruce, Dejean and Nwankpa. You see those names and you do get excited. My guess would be KF takes the safe route and goes with Ragini, but what if the upside is so undeniable that KF rolls with one of those guys mentioned. Maybe Dejean is Tim Dwight 2.0...maybe, maybe not, but I would like to see it.

Bottom line, @Motigerhawk had the best response/answer in this thread. "Iowa doesn't need no stinking receivers". If the FG kicker is decent(can make a 40 yarder in)Iowa will win 8 or 9 games.

Hey shitlord, the defense and special teams will combine to get us a half dozen red zone trips this year. And also when we play Ohio and Michigan we will get to see a lot of reps against the second team defense and those might get us a few as well. Plus we play Rutgers and Northwestern. This team will see at least a dozen trips to the red zone, maybe even as many as 18.

You should feel fortunate at your age just to have something moving in your shorts! ;):D

He's friends with the Purdue QB. I don't think Purdue has set up their NIL any better than Iowa has. But either way the bottom line is he didn't want to stay at Iowa, the reasons don't really matter. I don't want to see anyone putting on the Hawkeye uniform that doesn't want to be in it.

I watched him in the game. I don't think he should have been put in that position. He's a freshman with not a lot of innings under his belt at this point. He has to learn to trust the defense behind him. The odds of a hit is .300 or below so trust your teammates. Throwing that hard, I'm sure he was a strikeout pitcher in HS. Sometimes strikeout pitchers at a young age have a difficult time learning to become "out" pitchers as they progress thru levels of baseball. It looked to me that he's currently geared for strikeouts or his focus is on getting strikeouts, at least that game. That is fine, but one has to learn to be around the plate. If they get hit, more than likely the hitter might not get a good part of the barrel on the ball. He just needs consistent control which I am sure they are working on.

Trust your teammates. Iowa is known for their solid defense. I think the outfield only had one error on the season if I heard that correctly. Also, I can't remember what the wind was doing that day. If that is the day the wind was howling in, then that can change your pitching style. A pitcher can be more aggressive and around the plate more.

Two receivers going to Purdont. Ya got to wonder if this is starting to chap the azz of the Ferentz's a bit. Do we see Kirk pull back-to-back TO's at the end of the game in next year's blow-out?

I don’t hate on the kid at all, he did good things here and I got to see a couple run backs live with my kid. Good memories.

But that said, the one at fault here is Iowa. It’s pretty apparent that Jones sees a spot for playing time with Milton Wright out, and Tyrone Tracy is a familiar face who probably helped land him. He also saw that Johnson, Bruce, and LaPorta were probably going to get almost all of the targets.

Instead of focusing on what Purdue has for NIL that may or may not be enticing Charlie Jones, we should be focusing on the fact that Iowa has been on complete radio silence about NIL.

Is Jones our best WR? Nope. Is he valuable enough as a returner for the U to arrange a deal with someone to try and get him to stay? Yep. At least make a goddamn effort.

It's all about getting into an offense to see more targets at WR in his last year for a chance at the NFL. He went thru spring at Iowa and figured out it wasn't going to happen here. In addition, Iowa doesn't have the history of being a pass happy offense under KF.

A decent sized NIL deal might have turned the tide, though.

Yeah he feels more like a relief pitcher due to that too. He had zero control on his breaking ball. He lost confidence in that and didn't hardly throw it. With him not having more then a couple pitches and not being able to change speeds I'm not so sure he's a starter so much. I'd think he'd be a reliver/closer type. But he's young that was his first yr of college ball

The good thing for the football team is he didn't just walk in and dominate at pitching. Or else he may not have been suiting up at all this fall. If he coulda got drafted in the first 2 or 3 rounds he would have had to consider that. But there's no way he's an early round pick now maybe later if at all.

Well....maybe. He also may be thinking "by spending so much time with football I'm not developing as quickly as I could be on the mound." I imagine he's having a lot of different thoughts swirling in his mind these days.
