I thought LTP was Iowa's best defensive lineman last year.
He was, many thought. But of course, it was a small pond last year. Here's hoping for a big improvement by all. I suspect that it will take a few games though.

Sounds to me that the QB race that seemed close to being settled a few days ago all of the sudden looks more convoluted.

Where were you hearing this? Pay boards?
I think you and I were thinking the same that KF would name Rudock the starter in his short presser after Kids Day.
I now think you see Rudock and Beathard split snaps the first 2 games. No telling what will happen in Ames.
Just from piecing together things. Kirk said back before camp started he wanted his starter named by the time they were two weeks out. Then today Kirk told Revsine he intends to let the QB situation play out longer. There is no reason to stretch it out unless one of two things is happening. One, Rudock was pulling away but is now falling back with the others or two, one of the others is catching up fast to Rudock.
It would be very strange for the youngest of the three to be the starter. The other two guys would be so ticked off. Not sure if that would be good for team morale. Maybe it would be good. Don't know.
I don't think coaches make decisions based on "team morale" in the manner in which you were implying here. Either they are good enough to win the starting spot or they are not. If they can't handle it or feel it would be better to leave and play elsewhere, then most likely they will transfer. No matter what it is up to the individual to prove himself or move on. I would think an upperclassmen being upset over losing the starting position to an underclassmen is actually worse for morale than what you implied.
I do too, but you can't blame him for being ticked and it's that type of angst that the youngest guy that won the qb battle would be around all season long. Won't be good for anybody. That said, start the best!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would agree with that, or at least the most consistent until the end of the season. I think he was pretty banged up.
As to the size of Cooper and Pasat. I have been lucky enough to attend media day every year for the last 8 or 9 years. I help a friend get extra interviews. From the naked eye Pasat is a little taller, but Cooper is thicker. The entire DL is noticeably bigger this year. The two guys who looked to have put on the most weight at the position were Ott and McMinn(I actually didn't get to see Ott last year since he was a first year player), but Drew looks like a college DE now. He was noticeably smaller than he needed to be on the field.
The Dline is not that good. I saw them with my own eyes the other day and Meier, Jaleel, and Faith made exactly ZERO impact.
I think that the team would recognize that the upperclassmen's angst is on himself, no one else especially not the underclassman who out performed him. Those type of players usually aren't well liked nor to teammates want them around.
