Biggest Case of Sour Grapes Ever

Meh, while Mississippi is the armpit of the South in that it, along with Arkansas, has terrible college football and lacks a historic NASCAR track, I'd still prolly rather live there than Kansas or Nebraska.

Not I. The humidity and syphilis alone would force me to choose Nebraskansas

It's a can-of-worms discussion, since everybody would have their own interpretation of the semantics, but, IMHO, anytime a person is attacked by using a stereotype about his/her race, that is racism. The race in question doesn't matter. Saying in effect (to paraphrase him), "Get your slow white asses out of here," or "...getting beat in basketball by a bunch of Opie Taylors," implies that being white is inherently unathletic and/or slow. It also could be construed as an insult to African Americans, in that there is an implication that if you're black you must be a great athlete. Obviously, that in and of itself is not an insult, but, it does perpetuate a stereotype that many would find offensive (much like if you are Asian, well, you must be good with computers, etc.).

That said, count me in the category that feels our culture has become waaaay too sensitive, and I'm firmly of the belief that the PC stuff has gotten out of control. I don't hold any ill-will towards him at all, but, it does need to be called out for what it is, and, that being an emotional fan is not an excuse.

Every Asian is in fact good with math and computers, except for the ones who excel at laundromats and bodegas.

Look, it's a really tough call. I mean, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Dakota all have to be on almost everyone's "10 states where there's no way in hell I'd live there" lists and I doubt that Mississippi in August is that much worse humidity wise than central Kansas. At least you have Waffle House in Mississippi. But I just checked and they don't even have Bojangles in Mississippi, so I would have to think about it a little more.

Of course I'm going to guess you are a white male.

That's awesome! His apology is almost as epic as his OP. I don't have a problem with the OP/rant or the apology. He's an admitted fan and reacts like many of us here have reacted. He said some harsh things and now he has paid the price. Hopefully he has learned a lesson. Hopefully Iowa fans leave him be going forward.
The guy said over and over he had press credentials during the blog/rant attack. Revoke that and I'll accept his insincere, rambling, incoherent apology. I don't want Iowa fans chasing him down the street with pitchforks but he's a blowhard. I would rather stick a hot ember in my eyesocket than have a beer with him. I know a lot of sports fans just like him, I can be just like him when discussing packer fans or say Nebby fans. This difference is I don't have press passes or a blog.

He said he used to be one of the Rob Howes and Scott Dochtermans of Miss State, but 35k a year wasn't enough for him. If he's making more than that with his little podcast, I need to restrategize my life.

The fact that he kept having to tell people that he had a press pass only makes it more comical. You know security/Bowl reps heard the trash he was talking and assumed he didn't belong there. That should have clued him in but he kept on trucking trash. Lol. I really don't have a problem with what he said. Press pass or not. Fans are fans.

Tough lesson to learn in this day and age where everything recorded lasts for ever somewhere online.
If I would ever see this guy I'd say apology accepted and have a beer with him.
There are only a handful of things that can't be resolved by a couple of football adversaries talking over a beer or two.

I hope if you ever see him you have a Hawk bowl shirt on with the score on it. That would help him show his true colors...…….again.

Ok, damnit...who's Shane Cooper? And is he on this board?
Somebody from Tupelo threatened him in the comments. More class from Mississippuh. Shane Cooper is from Akron, Iowa, according to his profile. HawkeyeShane is from Marshalltown, but that was my first thought as well.

Ah, Tupelo, what a place that is. Broke down there on my way to Gulf Shores, AL. Thank God the mechanic wad from Illinois. What a nice Midwestern young man. Mississipian's?? Not so much. The Wendy's we ate in had a worker walk in with a cig in his mouth. I thought to myself, "Where the F am I?"

I checked in on this More Cowbell guy and I'm wondering if this isn't going to pay off for him. His podcast went from about 4K views to over 9k last night and his apology video had 74k views.

So if you have a podcast and want to get eyeballs watching it just piss off Iowa Hawkeye fans...lol.
