Yes. The stay at home order is working to stop the spread of the virus and overwhelm our health care system.

Yes. The virus will remain even after order is removed.

These are my opinions based on what I've read and heard from doctors and experts. I am not a doctor or an expert. I don't think we have any in this thread.

Some people are confused as to why we are supposed to stay home. It certainly is not going to stop the virus, the stay at home order was never intended to do that. It's designed to slow down the spread. If we were all still gathering and working as normal the infected rates/deaths would be staggering. How quickly and easily this virus gets transmitted is nothing we've ever seen before, at least not in our lifetime.

But this does lead to other questions, until there is a vaccine how do we ever go back to "normal"? If States start lifting restrictions again it's like starting a ticking time bomb.

One thing they won't be able to do, and still keep the spread down, is open schools until there is a vaccine. If schools were open, easily half the population would already have it. I don't know what the answer is. But you don't have to be a doctor to understand how bad schools spread viruses.

Sweden calls bullshit.

I think a lot of us are getting tired of you regurgitating your Twitter feed on here, at least I am. You have become a troll in this thread, which is sad given the circumstances we are faced with. The impression I have is that you are doing this to amuse yourself and are seeking attention. At least some of the others that share your viewpoints will have an actual conversation, you give trollish responses which provide zero value. I think I'm done responding to you in this thread, it's pointless.
You're wrong about TK. He's not trolling. He's just that bad at articulating himself. I could debate with all the other guys on his side all day on here and enjoy it. He just doesn't have the ability to put his thoughts into words so all he can do is cut and paste and throw out some quick jabs at people.

Yes they can be, and I'm pretty sure he even said that. You just need to do them individually first.
In this case, hydroxychloroquine has been "safely" used since the '40s. It's not some new drug. If he was accepting of multiple drugs being used as one variable, he shouldn't have led off with this:

"You have to test just ONE variable or medicine at a time, period."

I've known TK online for years, heck we go back to the dirty 30. I've enjoyed his antics when it comes talking to Hawkeye sports and have been amused by them, he's always had a trollish nature about him. But in this thread it's been over the top bad and, IMO, it's not appropriate.

Hopefully when this is all over and done with we can go back to just being Hawkeye fans.

Theres no way we will ever be able to both go back to normal and not overwhelm hospitals until there is a pretty good treatment in place. Iowa possibly could, not counting schools, but the entire country won't be able to.

Hey, look at that! I put my thoughts into words. You're such a tool.

You're just a very sensitive person. Your feelings do not and should not trump the truth.

By my definition, if he believes what he's posting, it's not trolling. Do you think he believes what he's posting?

He didn't word it perfectly but got his point across just fine.

Sweden is closer to normal life than we are, but they are far from normal life. They are doing a lot to minimize spread.
Really the only things they've done are shut down some schools and limit gatherings to 50 people or less. People can still sit down in a restaurant to eat. It's amazing they've only had roughly 1,400 deaths.

LoL. His point was blatantly false. He tried to appear like an academic intellectual, but, in reality, has no clue what he's talking about.

You did and I'm impressed. That is the 2nd time out of about 500 posts in this thread by you. Technically I should stop saying you "never" do. But since it's such a small percentage, I still will. Feel free to correct me and say you have twice if you want.

His point was fine. You test individually before you test a combination. I think that's probably true 99% of the time. I also think this is maybe a 1% time where you should. If using all 3 together shows good results, maybe they should run a trial with all three first, get it approved, and then start singling out the drugs to see if they only need one or two of them instead of all three. I'm no doctor, but that makes sense to me.

Like I said before, if it's a brand new drug you're testing safety for, you test it individually. Hydroxychloroquine has been used safely since the '40s. There's absolutely no reason the drug can't be tested individually and in combination with other drugs in concurrent studies.

And hopefully places like Iowa, who share the same population density, can start doing that too. It's entirely possible we could have only done that since the beginning. But a month ago no one knew that so they errored on the side of caution. Big cities will probably never be able to get away with that tho.

Most places will start opening soon. When they do, it will be obvious very quickly if they need to close it back down or if they can open more. The numbers will show it.

From what I've heard, it has some pretty big side effects including heart issues.
