adam Robinson kicked off team

The thing I liked about ARob was that he overcame big odds and was a big contributor on the field for 2 years......his grittiness and toughness on the field were his best assets.
If he can harness that same grittiness and toughness off of the field and overcome the mistakes of youth, he will be okay. If not....heaven help him.

The OWI could have been and probably was for driving under the influence of marijuana, they couldn't charge him with that until toxicology test came back which tells me a breathalyzer wouldn't work to test for this charge, it doesn't have to be just alcohol related for an OWI.

Really? I had no idea you could be charged OWI for smoking pot. You can drink beer, drive, and not get an OWI. Wouldn't that also apply to marijuana?

It's too bad - I really like Arob and truly hope that he gets his **** together, but this is absolutely the right call.

Hopefully he will get away from that crap, take care of business (class), and have a nice couple of years at UNI...

KF had more information about ARob than all of us put together, times 10. I trust his judgment. No moralizing needed, no good riddances, it's quite simply about suffering the consequences for your actions. My guess is that he knew exactly where the line was drawn. KF gets to draw the line, and the players get to decide whether they want to cross it. Pretty simple, really.

I liked ARob as a football player, he was always underestimated, and he came through many times for the Hawks. Not any longer. They'll miss his performances on the field next year, I think it's foolish to say otherwise. But that's only one factor in running a team.

BECAUSE HE COMMITTED A MISDEMEANOR, JUST LIKE JAMES FERENTZ DID.
Totally different....alcohol is not viewed like a DRUG so to speak. Plus the DJK thing makes it tough for Kirk not to say you gone. We also aren't privy to what has happened this season...he could of failed a drug test already. I say see ya later.

I'm sure it was the right decision, just hoped for a better outcome for the young man.

Will miss him myself..but understand it had to happen too..kid could play..will never forget how he poned Greg Jones multiple times

Too bad, but not a surprise.

He runs hard and having him in the backfield next year wouldve been nice

he will be missed don't see how anyone can say he wouldn't be..more depth the better..thank god for our depth this year

he'll be missed but not surprised one bit if he wasn't kicked off team everyone would be questioning kf. if he lets him back on the team and he does it again that looks horrible for the university

Ferentz had more than enough information to kick A-Rob off for good.

Here you go: If you take one hit from a blunt, bong or whatever you want to call it, while it may not effect your ability to drive you do have a controlled substance in your body and can be charged with an OWI. Alcohol as stated has to be .08.

Iowa's OWI (operating while intoxicated) law states that it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle in Iowa in any of the following conditions.

While under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or other drug or a combination of such substances
While having an alcohol concentration of .08 or more
While having any amount of a controlled substance in one’s body

WOW!

In all of the blather and inane commentary of this 4 page thread there has been no mention, I repeat no mention of not 1, but 2 friggin' concussions this young man suffered.

I have no behind the scenes info or knowledge (nor do any of you) on Mr Robinson's class attendance or performance but really wonder how a concussed blow to the head might have affected that?

For all of you people who now have thrown A Rob under the bus, well what can be said except you know nothing and are less loyal and have no compassion.

For all of you posters, errr posers, comparing the use and abuse of marijuana v. alcohol, go to the studies of the Center for Disease Control to begin with and see the havoc drinking vs smoking the devil weed has on people lives and health in today's society.

Are there really this many IDIOT Hawkeye fans on this board?

I'm not sure calling people idiots after a post like this is right.

What do you know that the concussions led to forgetting to go to class?

This isn't about if weed should be legal or if it is worse then alcohol, it is about him being SUSPENDED then going out and putting himself in a stupid situation. As of right now having weed in your possession and smoking it (unless prescribed) is ILLEGAL and concussion or not he knew that and put himself in that situation and after the DJK incident and illegal drugs makes this look even worse. It would be like someone getting an OWI by blowing a .09 but saying it really shouldn't be since the legal limit a few years ago was .10.

Earlier this season I had him penciled in as Iowa's all-time yardage leader by the time he left the program. Even with the pedigree coming in at RB, you know he would have been given carries. His football body of work was pretty impressive considering his starting point.

Good luck to you Adam.
