adam Robinson kicked off team

Ah yes, here we go. I'm curious what the punishment would be if you were the coach? I understand its only a misdemeanor, which still means breaking the law. Please don't make excuses for ARob, its not fair to him, obviously he knew what he was doing, and he was perfectly fine with the outcome if he got caught. It put Ferentz in a tough spot, especially with the other drama so recent, unfortunately that is what he had to do, you have to hold these kids accountable, no matter how tough it is. That's the problem today, no accountability for their actions, and a sense of entitlement that allows them to think they can get away with it. Think about what you just said, do you have kids?

WOW!

In all of the blather and inane commentary of this 4 page thread there has been no mention, I repeat no mention of not 1, but 2 friggin' concussions this young man suffered.

I have no behind the scenes info or knowledge (nor do any of you) on Mr Robinson's class attendance or performance but really wonder how a concussed blow to the head might have affected that?

For all of you people who now have thrown A Rob under the bus, well what can be said except you know nothing and are less loyal and have no compassion.

For all of you posters, errr posers, comparing the use and abuse of marijuana v. alcohol, go to the studies of the Center for Disease Control to begin with and see the havoc drinking vs smoking the devil weed has on people lives and health in today's society.

Are there really this many IDIOT Hawkeye fans on this board?

When you're suspended from the bowl game it makes sense to lie low, doesn't it. I like A-Rob too but he is getting what he deserves.

Its too bad, but he did get what he deserved. If only he could of hung low during break. I really thought he could of had a great junior, senior years. If he would have taken care of business we would be excited for next year with a promising pair of running backs!

This team underachieved this year because of bad luck or something else. Regardless, its time to start fresh, build a stronger team, and set the tone for next year.

In my mind, nobody that truly gets the meaning of leadership would get disciplined in one game, then suspended, and go out one week later and get involved in a mess again. Kids make mistakes, but thats disrespectful to the team and school.

The program would earn no respect, or deserve it, if he came back. Makes no difference who he is. Next man in.

Finally! Adam was always known as a major pot head around Iowa City...

I don't get these posts. I've been in Iowa City for 2 1/2 years now. I've never heard anything about A-Rob being a pot head, or DJK doing coke (another one that was "widely known", after the fact anyway). Nobody I know knew/heard about it, and in all the conversations I've heard on the bus and around campus discussing this stuff, never once did I hear anything along the lines of "I'm not surprised, the dude was bound to get caught eventually".

There's a difference between a few people seeing somebody snort a line and not telling anybody, and something being widely known. Just because you either saw it yourself, or know someone who did, does not make it common knowledge.

Or, maybe you just don't subject yourself to the "drug culture" type crowd. I think a majority of folks around IC were probably oblivious to the issues going on with Robinson and DJK, but that's because they don't use themselves or hang out with other users that have "inside info" or knowledge of athletes that partake in those type of activities.

It probably says more about your character that you didn't know than if you did

That's my point. There might be a circle of people who knew about it (I'm sure there was). But I'd be willing to bet that it wasn't common knowledge in Iowa City. Hell, I had class 4 times a week with a girl whose boyfriend is good friends with DJK, so she was around him a fair amount. And she was just as blown away as anyone.

The only place where I've heard that it was widely known was right here on the boards, with anonymous posters, and that "info" didn't leak until after the guys had been caught and the story hit the news.

Bingo. I love how something is always "Well Known" like this after the fact. How come none of this was known before they got busted if so many people knew about it all along?

See ya wouldn't want to be ya. Just sad these guys don't see what is infront of them. Hope these kids start to learn......

not to defend the "I knew it all along" folks, but if they were to try and throw out info like that on here they would either get berated by the masses or it would be deleted immediately under the pretense of false rumor or defamation of character.

Did it turn up on the other boards (which I'm assuming are a bit more liberal when it comes to rumors)? Not necessarily asking you tanabs, this is just a general question.

Re: Not sure why you would say..

"good riddance." He didn't harm anyone or steal anything from anyone that I know of. he made a series of silly, stupid mistakes. More than anything I feel sorry that he's made such poor choices that will impact his life forever. He can of course turn it around but he closed a chapter on this portion of his life way too early.

While I don't agree that "good riddance" is the right sentiment, I also think it's foolish to say what he did didn't harm anyone. The widespread reports of his arrest -- coming hours before his team was scheduled to play in a nationally televised bowl game and hoped to wipe away some of the on- and off-field blemishes from the past couple of months -- sure as he!! hurt the program, the school, the staff and the rest of the players. It was an excuse for more people to view Iowa football as a bunch of druggies -- and that perception is out there, unfair as it may be. It certainly didn't help with recruiting.

I liked him on the field. I'll miss that, but he would of been under the gun to perform, however he would still have been given plenty of carries. He played well and he may end up playing somewhere else, and will/could do very well yet...However, I have this feeling he must not be the sharpest tool in the shed.

Good luck A-Rob. Get your life together and go play football somewhere. To be sure...we will miss you, but we certainly don't need you.

he will be missed don't see how anyone can say he wouldn't be..more depth the better..thank god for our depth this year

he'll be missed but not surprised one bit if he wasn't kicked off team everyone would be questioning kf. if he lets him back on the team and he does it again that looks horrible for the university

so I am guessing you feel the same way in regards to Montell Marion, right?

Well really, pin didn't offer his personal opinion on the matter. Just said that it didn't surprise him because of how people would question Ferentz if he let A-Rob come back, and how bad it would look if A-Rob got busted again. That's just understanding the situation as it is, not judging it.
