A Picture Says a Thousand Words

That is a great, great pic Rob. Thanks for sharing.
I've never been one to believe that Kirk doesn't care. He's a dad. And he knows, from his heart, not his brain, that these kids that come to Iowa City and bust their ass for four years deserve his best effort to make them better men for their life long journey of whatever it is they go on to do.
That pic shows their love for their leader.

But who is the dude in the back that looks totally disengaged. I know its just a "picture " but everyone else is so happy...

He's only averaged 7 wins a year in an era that plays 12 and/or 13 games a season. That is NOT above average.
I've seen several of your posts on here, any reason every one of them is massively negative other than just trolling? And did you go just as negative last year or just double down this year when they haven't met your expectations?

Every one of them? Really? I guess you missed all of my posts praising Wadley and the defense on Saturday night. Maybe you should check out my comments on the basketball board.
Just because someone doesn't bow at kirk's feet, doesn't mean that person is negative.

He's 81-64 in the B1G and that's not taking into account his 0-8 record his first year when he took over a team with no talent. An average coach would be .500 in the B1G or so after so many years. He's above average by this very fair metric.

Maybe he's a proponent of the new math -- if you "feel" 2+2=5 that's okay if you can explain how you "feel" that way.
81-64 is average because it just "feels" that way.

It would be closer to the truth, but still debatable , to say an average PROGRAM would be .500. If Purdue and OSU both hired new coaches next year, and they both went .500 for 15 years, were those coaching performances equal?

That's nice. kirk ferentz is barely over .500 in conference play. Hip Hip Hooray!

BTW, it's 80 B1G wins, not 81. Not that it matters, I mean he's over .500 and all....

Hayden won 60% of his games, KF is winning 59% of his game

Hayden won 59% of his B1G games, KF is winning 56% of his B1G games

Take away each coaches first two years as they began establishing the program and Hayden won 60% of his B1G games and KF is winning 60% of his B1G games.

You left out the part where kirk has been able to schedule one more creampuff every year than Hayden did.
You know a coach is great when you have to remove his bad years to make him look above average!
Winning 55.5% of conference games is average no matter who you compare him to.

That is why I pointed out the B1G record. If you don't cut him any slack for his 3-12 start on the B1G then sure. Let's face it tho, after he got the program back on track he has been a 60% winner in the B1G for the past 15 years, which is hardly average.

You see what's happening here? We're arguing over whether kirk ferentz is an average coach versus an above average coach. Let that sink in for a moment.

No, that is what you are arguing. You are trying to make the case that a coach with way above average results is average. KF is 78-51 in the B1G over the last 15 years and you wanna say that isn't even "average".

Barry Alvarez was was a 51% winner in the B1G, and 56% if you take out his first two years. So over his last 14 years he isn't as good as KF last 15 years

I think the problem is people like you really have NO CLUE how hard it is to win 60% of your conference games over a 15 year span when you aren't Michigan or OSU.

His Wikipedia page said 81 but whatever.

If you think it's fair to throw out the first year he coached when we went 0-8 then he'd be 81-56 (or 80-56).

Again, not making the case that he's great but above-average.

I'd rather be above-average than average in:

wealth
intelligence
looks
athletic ability
coaching ability

Sadly, I'm probably not in any of these areas, but that's another story.

Hell, I'm sure if you throw out enough bad seasons, kirk ferentz has won 80% of conference games. Why don't we just do that and give him another extension. Deal?

What do you actually think coaches with 15 years at P5 non blue blood schools have for a conference winning %? What is "acceptable" to you? Obviously Alvarez was a joke of a coach to you.
