Damn, you might as well not even come up with a rebuttal. Owned
Actually,
Actually, a lot of people do that nowadays. I think they call them participation trophies.
You're taking that too seriously. So which level of college sport or professional sport are they giving out participation trophies for athletic competition. I'm not talking some handicapped ball boy getting a participation trophy. The context we are talking about is actual participants.
Yep, all those awards and zero outright conference championships in 18 years. kirk has done a great job at the whole 'lil ole Iowa' shtick.Damn, you might as well not even come up with a rebuttal. Owned

Dan Gable didn't win "B1G coach of the year" until 1993. All he did was win national titles like never before. Good coaches win awards. Great coaches win titles.

Iowa’s Ferentz wins 2015 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award
You know if you follow that link, at the bottom of the article is another link for a list of the past winners of this award. Coaching legends like Brian Kelly, Mike Gundy, Mark Mangino, and Charlie Weis are on that list.
Yes, awards are TRULY indicative of coaching excellence!
You left out the part where kirk has been able to schedule one more creampuff every year than Hayden did.
You know a coach is great when you have to remove his bad years to make him look above average!
Winning 55.5% of conference games is average no matter who you compare him to.
You see what's happening here? We're arguing over whether kirk ferentz is an average coach versus an above average coach. Let that sink in for a moment.

Every time one of those talking heads talks up ferentz, it comes with the caveat that Iowa can't get anything better. Seriously, when have you ever heard a national sports guru talk down an average coach? Go out in the general public and you're not going to find many football fans that think kirk ferentz is much more than an average coach, especially this year; all that 12-2 talent returning and we lose to an FCS team. Dear lord.
And then hawkeyes87 showed how stupid awards are. Average coach is average. Go Hawks! Let's all watch Fran and the boys tonight.
What a W in Kinnick under the lights!!

You're trying too hard. You said in hawks think he sucks. Well I proved how stupid that is as he won Awards recognizing him as the best coach in the B1G and nationally several times over he last 15 years. Combine that with 3 BCS bowl appearance, 2 conference titles and a 60% winning % over the last 15 years. Nice try tho. Now hopefully the Hawks will own Seton Hall as badly as I've owned you in this thread.

I never said he was below average. It won't matter. tk really dislikes KF. I have no doubt he loves the Hawks, but his disdain for KF is palpable.
KF is not an elite coach overall, the lack of National Titles and too many losses to inferior teams...
That said, below avg coaches do not win multiple National and Conference COY awards in multiple years, separated by multiple years.
Ferentz is a good coach, that has deficiency in certain areas that can be maddening.
I never said he was below average.
