I think this would be our best bet also. A true freshman like Gesell can contribute, but to put all that pressure on him could be allieviated by juco pg. Marble needs to stay at #2 where he belongs.

Fran visited Charles Mitchell in recent days, at one point he removed Iowa from his list, but in the last few weeks, Iowa has reappeared. Mitchell is a 6-8 C, at one time he was listed as a PF, he has good size being 240 lbs. as well.

i think Fran is quite confident in Gesell's ability as evident by the in home with Mitchell, so sit back and relax and have confidence in Fran knowing what he is doing

Do we have any realistic chance of stealing Mitchell at this point? Any updates on his list? The Rivals list doesn't seem all too trimmed.

That's the word. Kind of makes you like Meyer even more. It will be interesting to see if Clemmons gets an offer. I originally was hoping the staff would hold off til spring to offer another PG, but I think they've earned our trust so far.

It is amazing how quickly Fran has turned the roster over. The nice part is he didn't boot a bunch of kids out the door to do so. In hindsight, I think this was smart, as the kids we could have gotten last year weren't as good as this '12 class that the staff then had time to get in on.

stop looking at the lack of stars, White was out last summer due to injury and missed the evaluation, Olaseni came from Europe and never got evaluated to get ranked, Fran has evaluated them both, Fran and his staff know talent, they are not wet behind the ears in doing their job, they are not going after2-3 year projects they are going after players that can play now

You hit it on the head right here. As much as I would like to see Iowa get a PG, it also wouldn't disappoint me to see Iowa get a "best player available" type kid either.
Keep in mind that Mitchell was originally listed as a PF on the initial rankings release.
Getting a player like that, Iowa can force match-up issues with a really big lineup like Minnesota has done in the past.
At this point, with the four players Iowa has coming, adding anything to that will be a bonus. Iowa can sellout and go for some of these highly rated kids that haven't committed anywhere yet. That is what really gets me excited.
