I am from FM-Ryan was recruited out of high school by Iowa, Arizona, UNI, ISU, Northwestern, Nebraska and .......Notre Dame. If I recall his final three schools were Iowa, Arizona and UNI.

Typically a GA will receive a stipend and graduate credits to complete a masters degree. Although I believe in Division I basketball there are limits to coaching staff size and you often don't often see a GA role. Should be interesting how the coaching staff finalizes.

Why wouldn't we care what former players think? Why do you think fundraising is so slow and you have only heard publicly that one former player has given $$$ to the Carver renovation? Because the past two coaches haven't cared about the tradition of Iowa Basketball.

I think having an "Iowa Guy" would be a great step bringing the program back. I also think adding a basketball alumni to the staff would be a great addition. Ryan Bowen finished up his NBA career this year and would be a solid choice as a 2nd or 3rd assistant.
