Matt Ruhl: 8 year contract, $74 million, 90% guaranteed. Well. This will be interesting.

Lol yes. The exact same scenario. Except Rhule already has the failure out of the way.

What level of incompetence does Brian Ferentz have to exhibit to be fired?

Kinda awkward Thanksgiving to fire your own son.

I like Rhule, but Im with others on here. Nebraska hasn't adapted to Big10 play yet. Why not go for a coach with Big10 or SEC history? Did he build Baylor up or was that someone else?

    It's Official!

I remember being pretty excited about this year all summer. Now I can’t believe what I just watched all season. I don’t think Kirk can fit any more grey hairs on his head, dude has to be done…

Iowa football fans are getting the shaft

The goal was 7 wins, that’s what they accomplished. What’s the problem here? Bonus time.

Emerald Coast Classic Championship Game Thread

Why TCU though. We’re they any good in the Mountain West? They got some dudes now, Iowa looked like the size of a high school team. TCU also had a coach that looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger, guessing he was the strength and conditioning coach…

    Serious Question About Nebraska

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Nebraska still gets better TV numbers than Iowa even during times of turmoil. If that is the case, Nebraska brings more value to the conference Athletics than Iowa does.

    Attendance

Many good thoughts in here. But I really think if the city of Iowa City would let itself grow would help out in all sports attendance. Nebraska and Creighton get fans because Lincoln is almost 300,000 people and Omaha metro is almost 1,000,000. I’ve been to the Lincoln game the last few years...

    Kirk and Brian knew...

They are complacent. They have the whole season to try and figure out how to win 7 games and keep their jobs.

I feel the most empathy for Petras after failed 3rd and longs

Like someone stated above. Can’t gauge the kid properly with all the other issues at hand.

Is Charlie somewhat regretting his decision?

1 or 2 catches a game and an insurance salesman gig or 10+ catches 150+ yards and a shot at the NFL. Are you serious?

Notebook: Iowa Letting QB Competition Play Out

I thought it was reported that Petras would not return. Maybe I was mistaken.

Notebook: Iowa Letting QB Competition Play Out

Pretty sweet QB competition.... FYI Kirk, Petras isn't going to be here next year. The season goal of a championship is over. You've seen what Petras is capable of over the last three years. The tough part of the schedule is out of the way. Why not play your potential starting QB for 2023?

    I can’t not watch

Going with Petras. Like hello the season is shot, play for next year.

Jeff Horner Bringing Team Back to Iowa

Good for Jeff. Just need one of these Iowa bred coaches to take off and come back home when the Fran era is done.

Iowa is 2-15 against AP top 25 teams since 2017

Never did get Iowa over the hump. But man 2002-2005 was pretty fun to be an Iowa fan.

Iowa is 2-15 against AP top 25 teams since 2017

I'd also add that SEC teams that drop to 8-4 are usually ranked. Not so much for most of the Big10.

    ESPN Gameday this morning

Gameday crew has had an underlying snarkiness towards Iowa football the last 5 years or so. I'm not sure how to word it. Drinking.

    Keegan's Contract

He is at $8 mil a year. I see Harrison Barnes is at $18/yr. Don’t think it will stay like that for long.

Leistikow Says Petras Will Start Saturday

I cant believe people think its a fair comparison. One kid has started for three years. The other has played a couple of games, and then gets thrown in to the wolves at OSU. Petras would have shit his pants if that was his first game action this year.
