DE - Wilhite (SO)
DE - Garin (FR)
DT - Kirksey (JR)
DT - Edwards (JR)
LB - Cooper (SO)
LB - Tinsley (JR)
LB - Rallis (SO)
S - Manuel (FR)
S - Lewis (JR - JUCO transfer)
CB - Carter (SO)
CB - Collado (SR)

The above group pretty much epitomizes inexperience. The only SR of the group received his largest number of starts as a TR FR ... and really hasn't seen many starts since. Kirksey and Edwards actually do have quality reps under their belts, however, they're only now starting their 3rd year on campus ... as TR JRs. Furthermore, they have no prior experience as every-down players .... and what's more, they basically have little to no depth behind them!

Don't get me wrong, there is definitely talent on the Gopher roster. However, there is such overwhelming youth there ... I'd be shocked if they can perform at a high level from very early on. Furthermore, let us not forget that their defensive coordinator is Cosgrove ... a guy who played a significant role in Callahan getting run off from Nebraska.

why can't you help yourself?

wrong forum for starters

We play the Gophers, no?

A take-away from the current listed Gophers starters is that NOT A SINGLE guy was a full-time starter last year. Not a single one!

I couldn't help myself because I found it more than a little amusing.

TR Freshman makes sense, after that I think SO is soph, JR is junior.
But if a kid redshirts, it moves to a RS SO or RS JR.

As a point of reference ... the Illini D, a group that will have its own issues, at least benefits from featuring around 4 guys who are returning starters.

It would have been a lot easier to just say, "Minnesota is breaking in 11 new starters on defense this year". That would have gotten a lot more shock value and people would have understood in about 2 seconds what you were going for. Just my 2 cents.

Minn has lot of probs this year. Inexperiance personnel and a new head coach. They are not our concern. ISU, AZ, PSU, MSU, OSU all bigger problems.

LOL ... since when has being concise been my strong point!?

:)To me the funniest thing about this thread is that not 1 Goofer fan has or will chime in. You start a thread about most other teams in B10 and you'll get some of their fans posting. Not MN. There are so few Goofer fans, they are competing with Vikings, Twins, Wild and fishing for attention and no one is.... :)
