1haekeye, that was good. I live in Colorado, and my wife and I like to go watch the games in local establishments. Well, as soon as the manager/owner hears that voice, they change channels. Anyway, go Hawks, and put a hurt on the Bisons."It's 3rd down and it looks like they're gonna go for it!"
I'm gonna be that guy...I think she is as good as most run-of-the-mill play-by-play people out there and people just denigrate her because she is a female in male-dominated profession. To rise to her level of success she has to be doing something right. And I know the standard response: "It has nothing to do with her being a woman, she just sucks, that's all." You might want to consider if you are really as unbiased as you think; there is a lot of evidence that if a man and a woman say the exact same thing, the man will be perceived as being more competent/smarter and the woman less so (this holds when both men and women are doing the evaluating, by the way).
As a father of a young daughter, it would be tough to have her grow up, excel in her field to a level few achieve, and then for her to be told she sucks due to ingrained biases.
I will dismount my high horse now, and maybe give him some oats and a good rub down.
BS, throwing out the sexist label every time someone disagrees with a woman has to stop. She is terrible, her voice is annoying....not because she is a woman, it just is. I believe that the only reason she keeps her job....is because she is a woman.

Several people presented their opinion that she sucked. I presented my opinion that she was as good as the next. I didn't call anyone sexist, but rather I pointed out some factual information:
I asked people to consider these facts, nothing more. I am not sure why being asked to consider something would so offend some.
- she has risen to a position in her field that few attain (fact); presumably that is due to talent (opinion), though you could argue that she is somehow favored because of her gender; I think that would be a tough argument to make convincingly
- research has shown pretty clearly that messages are received differently depending on whether they are presented by a man or a woman (fact); there is actually research that also shows that men and women with lower-pitch voices are considered better leaders and more competent than their counterparts with higher-pitch voices, even when saying exactly the same thing
I'm no fan of Beth Mowins, but at least they don't pair her with Joey Galloway anymore. Those two together were absolutely miserable. ESPN split those two up to water down the suck. I actually think some of ESPN's lower crews aren't terrible. Adam Amin and the Ian Mcemammy (SP?) guy are both good, but get relegated to ESPNu and other far flung places.
