Morgan Freeman?
That would be awesome. If no one has done it yet, someone needs to do am impersonation of Red from Shawshank doing play by play for football.
Morgan Freeman?
No, I really didn't. I simply asked people to consider a few things. That is very different than invalidating anyone's opinions. If you don't want to consider the facts I presented, that is fine. But please don't claim that I am trying to shut down opinions or discourse, when I was actually trying to do the opposite.

And I know the standard response: "It has nothing to do with her being a woman, she just sucks, that's all." You might want to consider if you are really as unbiased as you think
Ok, man. Fair enough.
I don't have the time to go through all the links you posted. Suffice to say, of course bias still exists (as it does everywhere on the globe) and we should strive to eliminate it. I too have a daughter, who I've raised to be confident, self-sufficient and to take control of her world...not see herself as a potential victim in every situation, which many are now being taught.
As for Mowins, I don't care if she's a transgender alien from Saturn...I find her voice and her delivery irritating as hell. (as apparently do a lot of fans) There are plenty of male broadcasters I don't care for too.
Give me Michele Tafoya any day. She's a pro's pro.
Actually you did:
Just own it.
I ask people leveling criticism to consider if they are as unbiased as they think, in the face of evidence that many of us to harbor subconscious biases. If you cannot see the difference between that on one hand, and outright calling someone biased or sexist on the other hand, I don't know what to tell you.
Actually that's a 2 way street, if you can't read what you wrote and understand why some have taken it the way I have (among others) then I don't know what to tell you either.
Beth Mowins is a competent but boring play-caller. Not much personality, but she seems to know her stuff.
She's light years ahead of Pam Ward, though. Pam was a complete train wreck in the booth.
That's why Jessica Mendoza is very good.My honest opinion is I want play by play and analysis from those that have played the game. It has nothing to do with her being a female, but I want that player/coach background and knowledge from those that have experienced it first hand.
I'd relate it to getting driving lessons or advice from a 6 year old. Sure they've spent a lot of time around the car and may have gathered a lot of good advice/information, but I want someone who's actually experienced done it.
Edit: I have no problem with females as sideline reporters.
As the father of three daughters I say this. I don't like her play call announcing because she's a woman.I'm gonna be that guy...I think she is as good as most run-of-the-mill play-by-play people out there and people just denigrate her because she is a female in male-dominated profession. To rise to her level of success she has to be doing something right. And I know the standard response: "It has nothing to do with her being a woman, she just sucks, that's all." You might want to consider if you are really as unbiased as you think; there is a lot of evidence that if a man and a woman say the exact same thing, the man will be perceived as being more competent/smarter and the woman less so (this holds when both men and women are doing the evaluating, by the way).
As a father of a young daughter, it would be tough to have her grow up, excel in her field to a level few achieve, and then for her to be told she sucks due to ingrained biases.
I will dismount my high horse now, and maybe give him some oats and a good rub down.
