Your level of Fanatic...

I take most of these posts with a grain of salt, and they rarely affect me personally. But this one, has some gravity. Billso...my man.

I know, right? Just 5 years ago I was still taking my family to every bowl game. Had a beer with Rick Stanzi's mom and dad before the Orange Bowl, and carried my sleeping 4-year-old all the way down from the second deck and half a mile to the car in freezing weather afterwards.

I can't get enough Iowa football and basketball. I'm getting tired of Ferentz but hoping for another run. Fran is really making it happen in basketball....wait until you see Flemming in action....that kid is gonna be great.

My family has been attending Iowa games since 1922....several generations. I'm sure a lot of posters can say the same thing. I suffered through the twenty consecutive losing seasons....seven win seasons seem more than acceptable to me, but I understand why many posters get frustrated with it. It is all based on your experience and frame of reference. I fully understand why fans aren't satisfied with 6 and 7 win seasons under Ferentz. We need to do better

I was at that Orange Bowl as well. What a high.....it makes last year that much more frustrating

Typical Apologist post.

Just kidding chosen, just getting it in there before one of the poopy pants brigade does.

I'm right with ya, this year needs to see some improvements in many catagories. 7 wins is probably not gonna cut it. The first 4 games is gonna show a lot. 3-1 start may be survivable, 2-2 will not. Personally, I think 4-0 needs to happen. Illinois State and Pitt will answer most of the questions what kind of year this will be.

Excited, but to be honest I'm nervous.

I already have severe anxiety about the coming season. I watch every game in dead silence on my couch by myself, and don't allow anyone to talk to me. After every loss, I'm ruined for days and won't talk to anyone. After every loss, my wife stays with her mom. Most of my behavior is pathological, I realize that.

Oh hai back. Why yes. We're good to go. Did you move your seats at all?

Yeah, we were able to move up a few rows and over to the aisle. I'm still in the north end zone tho (thanks a lot Barta). The cool thing about my seat location is I'll be in the screen shot for the camera angle when they kick field goals and possibly crowd shots when they score some TDs. My kids will def get a kick outta that.

When Gair picked that pass to seal the Pitt game last year. I say to my wife(no pic) "Im so god damn pumped, I dont think Ive ever been this happy in my life" LOL. I have 2 kids and married. Told me immediately to rethink that statement and try again

My fandom now consists of p*ssing and moaning, general d-baggy comments, and sarcastic laughter. I wouldn’t even watch a game with me anymore.

+1. Nothing worse than watching with someone who is normal at this point in Iowa's program. While they laugh off a play, I pretend to laugh it off, but deep down want to rip the TV off the wall and throw the couch through the window

It's very hard to watch a game with someone who has the sarcastic laugh. I know it's anger fueled, but it still feels like they aren't taking it seriously. Every play is serious.

Playing golf with a sarcastic laugher is also miserable. They hit a bad chip and angry laugh like a hyena.

I hear ya. Whether it's after watching in Kinnick or on the tube in my Hawkeye themed man cave, I usually yell so loud about things that I spend the next few days sounding like Joe Cocker.

I know what your saying. I yelled so much at the Nebraska game last season that I couldn't hardly talk for a few days.

That's awesome I had a beer with him as well at the Orange Bowl. We were tailgating right by their group. Could not have been a cooler guy. We had my girlfriend and sister in law approach him at first and he ended up coming over and having a beer. He thought it was the greatest thing that his son was the hero of the hawkeye fanbase. I miss being so excited about the program that having a beer with a parent would be a highlight. But as they say, winning cures all. I just hope we find that cure.
