You love Iowa. But is Football or B-Ball #1?

Which is it?

It's a great time to be a Hawk. In my lifetime, there are only three other times where I was more torn between basketball and football: 1981 (I was barely alive, though), 1987 and 2002. We have arrived at an impasse once again. The count so far? Football 2 ('81 and '02), Basketball 1 ('87).

Now, it's time to close ranks once again.

Basketball... its my passion. I love to play, watch and ref.

I like that there are multiple games in a week.

for me also it is a question of time of life. i grew up more of a b-ball fan. even went to a couple of Mr. Davis's b-ball camps. man did i love kingsbury.

but, esp after Mr. Davis got the boot, b-ball has been passed by football. now, if fran can get us back to running and gunning, i find b-ball much more enjoyable to watch like that than our current style of football.

It is close between Womens field hockey or rowing. The tailgating is awesome, but I do tape it at home because after tailgating I do tend be lost during thethick of the action

I use to work concession stand for my team growing up so was in CHA alot (ofcourse once action started my friends and I would watch the game at top of the steps).
On other hand my grandparents would take RV to Kinnick and tailgate every Sat. since I can remember, the horn was even our fight song....
It's a toss up football is still top dog, although it is great to see basketball turning corner again and the energy back in the program. I only wish I could attend more of both but hardly get back for games... My neighbors still know when Iowa games are on :)

There are a litany of sports that could be included here. I understand that wrestling could be up there, and I share that sentiment. Love me some Iowa wrestling (as some on here know). That said, I'm not interested in that dynamic, as Iowa Wrestling interest stays relatively constant since 1975, whereas Iowa football and basketball have had a surge and retreat relationship during that time. The current state of that dynamic is what I'm interested in. Sorry, fellow wrestling fans. And field hockey, softball, baseball, etc....

Basketball was relevant before football, basketball is the reason why I am a Hawkeye fan today. Iowa beating Georgetown was one of my earliest memory of Hawkeye basketball.

football>wrestling>bball, and I'm a bball guy. I have a feeling that bball and wrestling will switch during the season.

Pretty close right now. Probably would've been much more skewed towards football if asked in 2009 or 2010.

I love football and will always be more passionate towards football, but I will get excited about basketball when we are up, I didn't really pay attention during our down years because I am more of a football fan, but next year for bball I will be all in every game!.
