Wisconsin isn’t more talented than us

i guess my point is that if only Iowa would do what it is supposed to do (i.e. maximize each opportunity) we'd have more wins and WUs seems to do that each season. WUs doesn't lose to MAC teams or to their equivalent to ISU. WUs doesn't lose to jNW 50% of the time. But even in a down year, WUs seems to find a way to win the B1G West and make it to the championship game. Iowa doesn't do any of that.
Not that I disagree with you, but Wisconsin doesn't have an equivalent to ISU. The closest would be Minnesota, but even they have some historical pedigree and recent successful seasons.

I do envy Wisconsin's willingness to schedule tough OOC games, but that comes back around to being tied to the clowns. The only hope there is to drop them (which unfortunately isn't going to happen any time soon), or hope for them to get better.

You realize Wisconsin has lost to Northwestern 2 of the last 4 times right? In their last 12 meetings they are split evenly 6-6

Wisconsin literally loses to NW 50% of the time.

There is no Wisconsin St. What does that even mean? Iowa and Iowa St. fight over what maybe 5-10 kids a year? I would understand this argument if Iowa and Iowa St. played in the same conference, but they don’t. I think the Iowa St. angle is waaay overplayed.

Just FTR since people apparently are trying to actually compare Wisconsin's success to Iowa's smh.

Last 20 seasons:

Wisky= 191-71 (.729)
5 B1G Championships (3 outright)
5 Rose Bowls (2-3)
1 Orange Bowl win
1 Cotton Bowl win
3 Outback Bowls (1-2)
3 Capital One Bowls (2-1)

Iowa= 146-105 (.581)
2 B1G Championships (zero outright)
1 Rose Bowl loss
2 Orange Bowls (1-1)
5 Outback Bowls (2-3)
1 Capital One Bowl win

I’d have to think Adrian Clayborn vs. Penn State at the Beav.
Yeah, that's a good one I forgot about (was thinking we'd need to go back to '02 Michigan or '03 or '04 bowls).

Still, if we need to go back 8 years to find a comparable Hawk win, I think we should admit it was a very good win, no?

I don't know that Wisconsin is that much more talented. Last night, RT #79 was getting whipped every pass play. Miami's DE blew by him at the snap on a ton of plays. And their db's have been pretty mediocre for a while.

But they're aggressive. They play to win. That goes a long way. Cover up the mediocre db's by getting enough pressure that the qb has to hurry, etc.

And their coach - whoever it is - is not a "fat cat". Yes, KF's term has described him for many years now...

You sure about those numbers? Wiscy has 11 more games?
Yep. Wisky only went one year without a bowl game. Iowa went 5 without a bowl game. Plus some years Wisky scheduled one more game than most schools along with how many times they've been in the B1G Champ game. They got a good thing going on over there.

Hmm. Oh well.

I'll bet none of the coaches they've had has been as nice a guy as KF. Let's keep our priorities straight.

When you look at the two programs over the past decade, the primary reason, the main difference in the two is this:
Alvarez as AD is 4K Hi Def Ultra
Barta as AD is black & white with rabbit ears
Even though they are friends, if Ferentz worked for Alvarez, Barry would have fired KF years ago, because winning is everything and nice guys are a dime a dozen.

Kirk is Coach Confused, Feet in Cement sideline coach...

Wisconsin's in game coaching is dynamic...

Kirk is smelling Bucky Coaching exhaust...

Iowa Football, 1977-1997:

Wins=147
Losses=96
Win %=60.5

Wisconsin Football, 1977-1997:

Wins=108
Losses=128
Win%=45.8

40 years, Iowa wins 59.3%
40 years, W wins 59.3%

Ever heard of regression to the mean?

BTW: Barry Alvarez averaged 7.8 wins per season in 15 years as the head coach at W. KF = 7.5 over 20 yrs.
