Wisconsin isn’t more talented than us

You have a point, but Wisconsin pretty much wins all of the games they are supposed to. That is why they are where they are, and why Iowa is Rodney Dangerfield.

Yep. It has nothing to do with not having an instate rival or the extra 2 million people. It has everything to do with winning the games you are suppose to and capitalizing on the momentum the program generates.

Oh look! One of the Kirk groupies posted some excuses. Lmfao

I wouldn’t be outraged losing 3 Rose bowls by a total of 15 points.

Agreed. To be honest, I'm not outraged at losing it by 30. We got there and had an incredibly exciting season. It was fun while it lasted. The game and memory of it was terrible, but I'll take more seasons like that that lead to big bowls. Which was more fun 2015 (bowl loss) or 2017 (bowl win)?

Sorry, but Wisconsin is more talented at several positions. As for coaching, I think that's debatable, but I will say that the defensive coaches at Wisconsin are more innovative. You never quite know where their players are going to be at the snap, and that's the kind of defense philosophy I've always preferred.

Offensively, we have similar philosophies, but the difference is that Wisconsin almost never, ever, has any holes in the starting line-ups (that applies to the defense as well), whereas, we always seem to have two or three positions where we are forced to play someone who either is not ready or isn't starter material. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, and Wisconsin almost never has a weak link. Their staff does a great job with recruiting and contingency planning.

Good for Wisky last nite as I quit watching the game when they were down. Wisky also got a few favorable calls and on that one long INT the wisky dback should have got flagged for a PI for grabbing the receiver. But that is part of why Wisky has jumped Iowa because I think they just play an overall more aggressive style of ball, their Oline is bigger and they use more power blocking, they are aggressive with crossing routes and going down field farther in the passing game, their defense is way more active and aggressive and harder to game plan against

So they make their own good fortune. I agree

I think I heard the Orange Bowl announcers say that 10 of the 11 Badger starters on defense were seniors. But, most of the offense returns. Their QB is pretty average.

But dont you think Wisky's receivers have been much better than Iowa's over the last decade?

They are to more talented than we are. Their O-line, running back, and especially receivers are much more talented than ours. I would also say they have more talent on their D-line, and safeties are more talented as well. As most have said, their coaching is light years ahead of ours.

Wisconsin is deeper than Iowa...period. Think about all the injuries they have had on defense this year. I think they have lost three linebackers at some point this year...their leading receiver...and a DB too. This is the difference IMO between the two programs. We lose players and there is a noticeable drop off and other teams attack the weakness (think OL this year). Wisconsin's depth is light years ahead of Iowa.

Let's face it, they recruit skill players better too, especially at WR. There wasn't much separation in those one on one match-ups when Miami played man, but Wisky's receivers made the play when the ball got there. How many times did you see our group do that this year? Not enough is the answer.

If there is hope...I think we have recruited much better over the last few years and the depth is certainly getting better pretty much everywhere. There were some key recruits, Nixon and Shannon at DT, for example, that should bode well for the DL over the next few years. I have to say I feel better about every position group after the last two recruiting classes.

Yeah I thought Wiskys receivers have been... Not to mention last night. Iowa's receivers haven't performed like theirs did all year.
So let's get down to the most important position. Is Hornibrook a stud? Well he's up and down. Last night he played great. Ran their offense to a T. Is he more talented then Stanley? Well he isn't as big or strong and probably can't throw it as hard or far. But as far as playing QB goes the jury is still out. I'd say Hornibrook has the leg up in that he's played in a bigger game and performed almost flawless in it so far. But they both have a ways to go yet to put any final analysis on them.

Rushing offense (OL talent) really stands out as the biggest gap between the two programs statistically this year. Wisconsin ranked #24, Iowa ranked # 96 which then leads to time of possession......WI ranked #2, Iowa ranked #66.

They are better at playing Iowa ball than Iowa is in recent times. Troubles all start to roll downhill if either team has trouble running the football. Throw the time of possession in there as well as field position (punting) and this is how these two teams are designed to win games.

I'd take their true freshman WR, Davis. Young man is a talent as is Taylor who is a better overall RB than Wadley.

They have ran the ball better for a better part of a decade. Slow methodical, stuff it down your throat drives on defenses that know what is coming, we can't run against Purdue.
