Wisconsin clearly fumbled on the last play

why were they pac 12 officials. Usually, in ooc games, the visiting conference brings the refs.

refs screwed the pooch big time at the end of that game, they had zero control and as Pac 10 officals that didn't surprise me they let ASU get away with their crap.

Just saw highlights of the play (I think it was ESPN) and they said the refs were from the PAC 10. Not sure if true, but that's what they said.

Edit: Sorry... I meant to say Big 10, not Pac 10. The highlights I saw said it was a Big 10 crew.

It was a cluster****. Note to Head Coach: always have your QB spike the ball. Problem solved.

He was trying to center it and then spike it...and it should have worked.

They changed that a while back pumpdog20...and I'm not sure what the logic was in that change.

Big ten looking to be a laughing stock again this year. OSU and NW seem to be the only teams worth a darn. Not looking forward to those two games.

I don't give a rat's @ss about the rest of the Big10.. All I care about is Iowa. Our team has problems and if a weak Big can help it win enough games to go bowling ,then great! I would love to upset a good NW team and let them know what it feels like to get beat by an inferior team.

The QB's knee was down.

During game he didn't even appear close to kneeling. I still don't understand announcer comment that even if he didn't kneel the QB can just give up. Even when sliding the qb does in fact eventually have Togo down.

Ive alwas wondered with so much money in the mix why college reffs are so much worse than the ones in the NFl.

The lack of accountability for college officiating is scary.

Completely idiotic play by Wisconsin. Why even run that play, when you don't haven enough time? They would have never run the ball with the RB, what the heck makes them think that just because the QB downs the ball, that the opponents and refs should hurry up and set up the ball for them to spike it? Bad, bad, bad coaching decision on that one.

The thing is, is that the refs didn't have to spot the ball. It was blown dead right where Stave set it on the ground. The reason it took so long was that ASU players dove on it, which should have resulted in a delay of game penalty.

As for whether or not it was a fumble: IIRC, if you were to stumble and, for whatever reason, pressed the ball to the ground to keep on your feet, the play is blown dead because you're down. I would think the same principle would apply to this play; Stave didn't drop it, he set it on the ground.

A whole lot of blaming the victim going on in this thread. Whether you hate Wisconsin or not, they got jobbed. Centering the ball in the middle of the field for a FG is not idiotic, it happens all the time. What is idiotic is referees that can't figure out how to spot the ball or blow a play dead. There should have been more than enough time to spot it and run another play. Stop making excuses for awful officiating. If it happens to us it won't be so funny.
