Wisc WR Flips to Hawks

I do not follow recruiting that close. But it is my impression that everyone discourages their verbal commitments from taking visits elsewhere, and everyone continues to talk with other schools' verbals. Why are so many trying to act like Iowa is the only school engaged in this hypocrisy?

I think the way all of this stuff when down, shows PERFECTLY why Iowa wants commits to be committed and not still looking around.

When Iowa had commits from Smith, Holmes and Coralles, Iowa was saving it's last spot for Martin, and backed off recruiting other options. They were after Bell and Greenwood, but didn't have room for them, so those kids committed elsewhere, and Iowa wasn't really actively recruiting other WR besides Martin.

Welp now Holmes and Coralles leave. Iowa is left with nothing, and is starting over from scratch. This is exactly why Iowa wants the kids they accept commits from to be committed. Iowa cuts off ties with a Bell and Greenwood, because they "have their guys"......when those guys start looking around, and Iowa now doesn't have the option of a Bell and Greenwood, so they have to scramble for other options

It blew me away how many posters just wanted Iowa commits to just wonder around visiting schools, and not being solid with Iowa. Like this isn't a big deal. When Iowa accepts a commitment from a Holmes for instance they let go of a Bell and Greenwood as a result of that. So when a Holmes "looks around" or de commits it hurts much, much more than just losing that player.....you lose all the alternates that you had for him at one point, because those kids are no longer options.

It is fluid, it is complicated, it isn't easy. Posters kicking and screaming like children when a kid moves on, or asks how Iowa gets in these positions, this is it. You want Iowa to go after the best kids, and welp, the best kids are the ones who get wandering eyes and look around because they have tons of options. This happens all over the place. Michigan lost players, ND is losing kids, Bama might lose Harris, blue bloods can't keep all their commits, Iowa isn't going to either. Unfortunately our fallbacks are MAC players.....Michigan's fall back are raiding Iowa or Pitt, or similar recruits.

I don't think any posters wanted Iowa commits to just wonder around visiting schools, and not being solid with Iowa.

Good post. I would add that teams like Michigan and other "blue bloods" are also commonly withdrawing scholarship offers if a better option comes along. If Iowa did that, many would be screaming to fire KF immediately.

But, since he stops making offers when a position is full, and then a kid backs out, as you say, we have to start all over. Want to fix the problem completely? When a kid signs, its over. And, whomever he signs with cannot withdraw his scholarship. Would be OK with me...

Can we get the QB from his highlight film too? Nearly every pass was a perfect throw. I didn't see much that impressed me regarding said WR as a result. I'm by no means an offensive expert so take my observation for face value.

He has a funky slow delivery. Takes like 2 secs to cock his arm back to throw. He did put every ball right on the money though, odd!

What blows me away is that when Kirk loses a quality kid, he immediately takes the defeated route and poaches low-hanging fruit.

What about the P5 programs that lose their coaches (or have a HC on the hot seat) around this time of year? Why don't we poach from those programs?

I'll tell ya why. Cuz it would require some real effort by our egomaniac-in-chief. And he's lazy. That's why he put those stupid stipulations in the mailer. That way he doesn't have to stay in contact cuz he thinks they are bound by some gentleman's agreement. When the hell is that crazy new contract GONNA BENEFIT THE PROGRAM RATHER THAN KING MIDAS?!?! He needs to retire. NOW.
