Wirfs suspended one game

And don't get my started on driving a boat drunk. There is already a law that says you can't get within 100 feet of another boat. How drunk do you need to be to accidently get within 100 feet and end up hitting someone? Especially when everyone in both boats would have to not see you coming too.

In a car you see someone coming from a mile away and you know you have to pass within 5 feet eventually. One quick mistake can cause an accident. You don't have the luxury of having a passenger tell you to change your course of direction 1 degree so you miss them by 100 feet. Or the luxury of the other driver seeing you from a mile away and changing his course of direction to miss by 100 feet.

All the impairments that alcohol cause have nothing to do with what it takes to not crash a boat. Up until a ridiculously drunk point at least. Yet the alcohol level is the exact same as in a car. It makes literally no sense at all.

If they want to prevent boating accidents there are way better laws to make. Make people get a boating license. That's a no brainer but you don't need one in Iowa . A drunk experienced boater is 100 times safer than a sober novice one.

The best law they should make is make it illegal to drive with a wake if you're drunk. Let people coast their boat back legally and they will lower the chances of death to exactly 0%. That's the only law they need. If they want to go over the top they could say no driving a boat drunk after sunset like jet skis. Driving at night is already dangerous so don't let it be legal to add to that danger by being drunk. That is at least better than what they have now.

Sorry for the long rant.

A drunk experienced boater is 100 times safer than a sober novice one.

Stupid. Look up the leading cause of boating deaths. Those who like to drink more than they should seem to love anecdotal evidence.

Many gave up or lost their families, as well. Some literally had no homes, families, businesses, etc., to return to. They ended up persevering/prospering in spite of their losses, not because of "oppressing" others.

It turns my stomach to see what revisionist history gets put forward nowadays.

there are obviously revisionists. However, revisionists exist on both sides of the equation. History belongs to the victors.

In US classrooms for example you'll learn about the brutal Soviet crackdown on Hungary. It was brutal. Left out from US textbooks is what the freedom fighters did to elicit the response. That statement is not a pro-Soviet statement, nor is it critical of the freedom fighters.- It is strictly a look at history. Many are afraid to actually look at history. Hitler for example was a brutal man who committed unbelievable atrocities. Left out of history is that he was very personable and likable and many around him knew him as a kind man in his personal daily life.

How many of you know that a large contingent of US US troops fought and were contained by Communist forces in Russia a little less that 100 years ago? Again, no agenda, but just pointing out that history is different a lot from what is believed.

In WW2, in Market Garden 82nd Airborne troops had enemy troops get behind them and when troops were eyeball to eyeball the fighting stopped and the Germans and Americans were allowed to pick up wounded troops?

The US flew countless bombers over Auschwitz and the RR tracks leading to it? Did you know that US Army Air Corp forces were stationed in the USSR and the Soviets when they were sure the help wasn't needed allowed German bombers to hit the US bases hard without warning? Countless locals were killed along with some US forces.

The soldier captured in unbroken was treated very well by his first captures who reluctantly gave him over to higher authorities. History is rich if you really want t look at it. Most want to simply wave flags.

Ho, in a letter to the US in the 1940s:

Letter to U.S. Secretary of State, October 18, 1945
Hanoi October 17, 1945

There follows summary of letter dated at Hanoi September 29 addressed to President of US by Ho Chi Minh who signed as "President of Provincial Govt of Republic of Viet-Nam"; letter was delivered to US General Gallagher head of Chinese Combat Command Liaison Group with Chinese forces in North Indochina and forwarded to Embassy through US Army channels:

Saigon radio September 27 reported killing of US Colonel Peter Dewey in course of French instigated clash between Viet-Namese nationalists and French aggressors in Cochin China. As Saigon is in hands of Franco–British forces report cannot be investigated now but we hope sincerely it is not true. But if correct incident may have been due to confusion in darkness or other unfortunate circumstances or may have been provoked by French or British. No matter what the case news moves us deeply and we will do utmost to search out culprits and punish them severely. Measures are being taken to prevent further such incidents. We assure you we are as profoundly affected by death of any American resident in this country as by that of dearest relatives.

We ask only of your representatives in this country to give us advance notice of movements of your nationals and to be more cautious in "trespassing" fighting areas. This will avoid accidents and aid in welcoming demonstrations. (Sent to Dept repeated to Paris)

I assure you of admiration and friendship we feel toward American people and its representatives here. That such friendly feelings have been exhibited not only to Americans themselves but also to impostors in American uniform is proof that US stand for international justice and peace is appreciated by entire Viet-Namese nation and "governing spheres".

I convey to you Mr. President and to American people expression of our great respect and admiration.

Lol that's because once alcohol is involved, it trumps everything else. If a guy who never drove a boat in his life drank 2 beers and crashed, what category do you think that goes into? The idiot who had no idea what he was doing category, or the alcohol category?

I've been around Saylorville lake for at least 15 years and I don't think there has been a single death caused by a drunk driver. It's just not a dangerous thing. Being on the water drunk is fairly dangerous. Being tied up at a party cove hoping across boats, walking drunk on a dock, or just general swimming is all more dangerous than being on a boat with a drunk driver or being hit by another boat. That stuff just rarely ever happens.

How much do you drink?

I started dating my wife on a canoe outing at Appleby in Monticello. She thought I was interested in her co worker and was pleasantly surprised when things turned out differently. What she didn't know was that an ex girlfriend of mine was dropping hints that she wanted to rekindle things now that she was done with dental hygiene school. In any case I took the sure thing. I was fast approaching thirty and had sown my oats. That was in 1995. Twenty three years later we're still going strong!

What about rowing a boat drunk?

or otherwise impaired?

I can safely row a boat up to exactly .08. Once I hit that mark all hell breaks loose. If anyone gets within 5 feet of me there's a good chance they end up with head trauma from my oar.
The Lusitania wasn't actually sunk by a torpedo. The captain had 3 glasses of Chateau Margeaux and the moment he hit 0.081 he parked the boat on the bottom of the ocean. Brought America into WWI, laid groundwork for WWII and American "interventions" following WWII. Death toll from that one inebriated captain is over 100 million people. So boating while drunk is serious business, bud.

The world would be so different if he didn't take that last sip and stayed perfectly fine to drive.
