Will Woodbury have a Similar Impact as Zeller?

I understand the age difference but Zeller was a first round pick last season if he came out and could be the ACC POY this season. They are both great players and it really isn't an insult to say one is better than the other.

Both are lottery picks and I will have to agree with the parents on the matter; they have said for a couple of years that Cody is the best of the three kids.

Indiana does not feature Zeller's whole game enough. He has solid range to about 15 ft., but they camp him on the block and let him do a lot of his own thing off missed shots. When they really need him later in the shot clock, they will post him.

Tyler's injuries early in his career set him back a little bit and I think his best days are ahead of him in the NBA. Cody is able to play all styles where Tyler really struggles with physical defense.

what will make Woodbury effective is that he will have Olaseni and Meyer to help man the middle, then you have the nucleus of Marble, White and Basabe/McCabe to build on,
Gessel,Clemmons, Ingram give Iowa solid pg that are quicker and very defensive on the outside.
Oglesby brings the sharpshooter like Moe did, and to finish the group you have May who I hope he steps up his senior year.
scoring by Woodbury will be minimal it will be his rebounding and shot ALTERING ability that will be the biggest asset

PG Gesell 6'2
SG Marble 6'7
SF White 6'8
PF basabe 6'7
C Olaseni 6'11

then you have

PG Clemmons 6'1
SG Oglesby 6'5
SF May 6'5
PF McCabe 6'7
C Woodbury 7'1

with Meyer splitting time at the 4 or 5
Ingram splitting time at the 1 or 2

this team will be able to force the tempo and the ability to switch to mactchup against different teams such as what we faced against NW and their 4 guard and 1 forward, the best thing is its not about who starts as it has to do who is on the floor to match up against what the other team does
the pressure to carry a team just won't be there. this will be a solid top to bottum team where no one player has to carry it
as for Basabe and Olaseni getting the starting nod, Iexpect Basabe to get his head back into it, and i expect Olaseni to make strides from this year to next, this kid is always into the game on the sidelines and he appears to be coachable which goes a long way in developing skills
coaching is what seperate the players in their ability

So Herby is still on the Olesani bandwagon huh? I am sure the guy who can't climb past Archie on the depth chart will be starter quality next year.

time will tell, a year did wonders for McCabe and Marble, and i seem to remember most of you were throwning both under the bus, it sure is funny how you speak of a big taking time to adjust, but for Olaseni he had to produce right away, but now because he did as most bigs do his freshman season, he will never be anything but a bench warmer, to your narrow minded thinking

I agree that Zeller seems to struggle at times with physical defenders. He, like every other big, needs to find the right type of team to prosper. He will be able to play for a long time in the league because he can run and has a solid jump hook. Another underrated aspect to his game is taking charges. He might be the best in the nation at that.

I think the proper title of this thread should be: Will Gesell have a similar impact as Burke?

Michigan has a real shot to win the BIG, they have to have some things go their way. They lost Darius Morris and insert Burke and they are a better team. Michigan's seniors have played solid and Morgan is a great post defender, but the rest of the team has regressed, yet they are in the hunt for the regular season title.

Imagine if Iowa could have pulled of getting that kid on campus...forget all the other PG's they went after.
