Will Wadley be back?

This is the one reason for him to stay and get a degree. RBs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. With any NFL position, your career can be over in a second, but that is magnified at RB. Plus its the easiest position to play and the easiest position to replace a good player. You can go from starter to unemployed quickly, even without injury.

So if he is within reach of a degree (being this is his 4th year on campus, I'd imagine he's somewhat close) sticking around and getting that degree would be a great idea. Because his first contract may be his only contract and he likely will not be a high enough pick for that contract to set him up for life.
I see that argument as helping him decide to go... School isn't going anywhere he can still get his degree after leaving early. To me it's more along the lines of his value. If he' say a 5th round pick is it worth it to him to go now and start his clock towards getting the 2nd contract or roll the dice and come back to school hoping to be say a top 3 rb taken next year maybe sneaking into the 2nd round or even 1st if he has a monster year and gets a little bigger... I can't say which way a guy leans for that. Of course there are more factors to each individuals situations too. But if your narrowing it down to those two things it's not so cut and dry to me that one decides to stay or go

You're absolutely right. That argument could be used for him to go early. Either way, I just hope it works for him. Football or not, Hawkeye in 2017 or not. Incredible talent and I'm grateful he came to Iowa and showed toughness to stick it out when things weren't going well and when he was being passed up for guys with less ability.

That is only Kiper's board. Other analysts have him on their list but lower. Running backs already go in later rounds with some obvious exceptions so he'd still run the risk of going undrafted. He's going to go into next year already on the NFL radar. If he has a good season he can play his way onto everyone's top 5 lists and go somewhere between rounds 3 and 5. Similar to King now being projected in 1st round.

Hard for 185 lb. running backs to make it in the NFL. Maybe as a 3rd-down backs only. Best he puts on another 5-10 lbs. in the next year, if possible, first.

Very true he seems like a good guy. Another thing I thought of was what is he going to school for? If it's just a basket weaving plane jane liberal arts degree or if he has a specific job/career in which he's chasing could make a big difference too.

I don't know his family financial situation or what direction his family might push him. Some family members (Mom usually) might tell him to finish his degree. But if he can get drafted in the first few rounds, it would be tough to turn down the upfront money or to turn away from a potential dream of playing in the NFL. Plus with the money you could make for a couple of years of NFL service, you can always go back to school if you manage your money well. I hope he comes back, but if he can get guaranteed to be drafted in the first 3 rounds, I think he ends up going pro.

He's not going to leave because Mel Kiper has him ranked such and such.....Mel Kiper isn't even very good at his rankings. He's just an entertainer...If there is legitimate interest, KF will talk to real scouts and NFL personnel......https://harvardsportsanalysis.wordp...mel-kiper-jr-and-todd-mcshays-draft-rankings/

Can't wait to see your reply. What R U? You kind of remind me of Rush Limbaugh, Dave Ramsey, Howard Cosell, and Cowherd all wrapped into one. And Stern.

Limbaugh? Ramsey?? Cosell? Cowerd?? Wow, this might be the most insulting thing anyone has said to me on this site, lol. I am more influenced by Morton Downey Jr., Walt Kowalski, George Carlin, Donnie Duncan, David H. Ohle, etc...How's that for a list :)

Donnie Duncan? That explains a few things. Maybe Jeff Rense?

Definitely Howard Stern, Gene Simmons
And Evan Baxter:

I think Wadley would make a mistake if he goes to the NFL. Most RB, heck most players average less than 3 years in the NFL. If he comes out this year and is a 4th round or worse draft pick he doesn't get hardly any guaranteed money. Since on average a NFL player plays less than 3 years, odds say he won't get to sign another contract. You need to make sure you are in the top 3 rounds of the NFL drafts if you are a RB. It makes no sense to come out early to just be a 5th/6th round pick which is the absolute best Wadley could hope for right now.

What does KF know about offense other than the O-Line? Especially for a pro project like Wadley? You think pro scouts only want to know about Wadley's ability to be part of the team and follow orders?

If he goes to the combine that might decide what's best for him.
Can players go to the combine and then change their mind and go back to school? I don't remember kids being able to do that. I thought they were all in by that point. Or did that change?

Except that they guy continues to overcome obstacles in his way. Size, fumbling, coaches, injuries. Hope he doesn't go, but barring injuries I imagine some team could find something for him to do for 5 years and actually use him.

No way some teams don't see his capability even though KF hasn't always. To run like he does and only lose one ball to the other team. Pretty good. Life is full of risks.

That said, I don't think he's going anywhere. We don't have access to conversations between he and KF. KF never ceases to amaze me... from all directions. Maybe there is some team rule that he can't visit his great grandmother on the 4th Sunday in October that he violated, or losing the ball within 10 yards of the sideline on astro turf. Maybe he talked to his 3rd cousin who knows the 4th cousin of an agent or something.
