I see that argument as helping him decide to go... School isn't going anywhere he can still get his degree after leaving early. To me it's more along the lines of his value. If he' say a 5th round pick is it worth it to him to go now and start his clock towards getting the 2nd contract or roll the dice and come back to school hoping to be say a top 3 rb taken next year maybe sneaking into the 2nd round or even 1st if he has a monster year and gets a little bigger... I can't say which way a guy leans for that. Of course there are more factors to each individuals situations too. But if your narrowing it down to those two things it's not so cut and dry to me that one decides to stay or goThis is the one reason for him to stay and get a degree. RBs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. With any NFL position, your career can be over in a second, but that is magnified at RB. Plus its the easiest position to play and the easiest position to replace a good player. You can go from starter to unemployed quickly, even without injury.
So if he is within reach of a degree (being this is his 4th year on campus, I'd imagine he's somewhat close) sticking around and getting that degree would be a great idea. Because his first contract may be his only contract and he likely will not be a high enough pick for that contract to set him up for life.
