Will Wadley be back?

Just saying something isn't debatable does not make it true. If Coach Ferentz does not want players like Wadley, why did Wadley lead the team in offense this year? Why was he leaned upon heavily in the most important games? Those are 2 pieces of information that support Wadley being the type of player Coach Ferentz likes. What are you using to support your (non-debatable) statement?

Great point. I didn't see a bunch of P5 schools knocking down Wadleys door recruiting him as an undersized RB to come in and tote the rock for them.

Observation. I observe that KF wants people to fit into his mold and doesn't like mavericks. Banks was far better without a playbook than KM. Stanzi over JC. CJ over JR. When KF's system works well it is a thing of beauty. There doesn't appear to be a lot of room for "creativity". I've been around sports enough through coaching and having kids play high school/college sports to know the difference. Coaches have systems. I think the odds are that KF will never win a NC. Outside of Alabama who gets the best, those that reach the summit in about everything have creativity and reward it. However, there is no real argument that KF hasn't been successful either. We can argue how successful. I don't put the lack of consistent great years on being poor ole Iowa. I think it's the system. That system has made Iowa relevant compared to our neighbors in MN and IL...and Mizzou overall.

Last year was fun, but aside from KF giving the foundation, CJ had a lot to do with what happened... CJ the despised Maverick who could back up his swagger.

Even against M late, Daniels got some carries that should have gone to Wadley.

Honest question. Maybe I'm wrong, but looking for clarification. My failing memory is suggesting to me that Wadley was an after thought when someone else fell through..... Yes he was a big miss by many. I also think KF is much better at finding hidden talent than he is at developing it. Sanders and Wadley would have been good at a lot of places. Not all, but a lot. Heck, HF would have made him a receiver and punt returner.

I'm not sure who we "missed" on and then brought Wadley in for actually.

You bring up and interesting point about finding/developing talent. I wholeheartedy agree that it is just as much about finding hidden talent as it is to "developing" it. Take Wadley for instance, if he is a 5'-10" 190 lbs in High School doing what he did, all the big players are after him. Since he wasn't the right size, KF understand he can get his body there and sees he is worth a spot.

Same goes for a ton of Iowa kids especially under KF. The talent is there, it is just missed by lots because it is "small school" football and lot of Iowa kids aren't hitting camps and getting exposure like some are. Take Oliver Martin for example. If he puts up the same eye popping stats at West, BUT he doesn't hit the Rivals camps, he never gets an Oregon, ND, and Michigan offers. They aren't going to look at his film vs Iowa HS teams and offer him. They will look at Marins camp numbers vs other highly ranked recruits and see he measured up very well and then look at his film and offer tho. If Martin never goes to the Rivals camp, he signs with Iowa as a 2* kid who KF gets credited for "developing" him if he has a good college career. So yeah I totally agree with you, it is just as much or more about simply recognizing talent others can't see. There is a reason KF hits on so many of theses.....and it isn't all development.
