Wiescamp staying or leaving?

He was one of the 3 best Refs on the country as he reffed the national championship game. Iowa fans amaze me you people bitch about the refs more then anyone. There always an easy escape goat because most people wont bash you for complaining about them over a player or coach. And still amazes me Iowa fans bitch about the refs
Even though almost every year we shoot more free throws then the other team attempts.

If you watch college...it's odd that you can't find a team in the NBA that suits the style of play you like. I'm not a fan of, say, the style of play of the Houston Rockets teams of recent years...Harden dribbling for 18-20 seconds every possession...only two man isolation game plays over and over. That's not basketball as you are purposely putting three players on one side of the court a large percentage with nothing to do but watch.

However, if you watch the great teams of the Golden State Warriors...well...that's some high level basketball. They moved the ball, ran motion, and played really unselfish basketball. It seriously was like poetry in motion watching Curry, Durant, Green, Thompson play together. Three are great scorers, but they played unselfishly...always making the right play when a guy was open. That's good basketball.

There are some fun teams to watch in the NBA if you like basketball. Interestingly enough...Harden has taken on a true point guard role with Brooklyn...it's not the same guy. That team has some serious talent...and it will be interesting to see if they can put it together to beat a team like the Lakers or other good teams.
Yup, well said! Or, try the Nuggets for another one. Their entire offense is based on snappy ball movement, cutting, etc. Some "1-on-1" type ball does occur from time to time, but is situational and definitely not the norm.

I hear so many negative comments about the NBA that don't reflect reality, it's crazy. The level of play almost boggles the mind and, if you really watch, the diversity of play styles is very interesting - the diversity is just never going to be as varied or obvious as it is at the college level because, among other things, college has a longer shot clock and a much lower overall skill level in the player base.

Don't get me wrong - I love college basketball, the diversity of play styles, the contrast with the pro game, etc...but when I hear the NBA game being essentially characterized as junk, I cock an eyebrow for sure.

Really, set your DVR and try to catch a few games on TNT (or a lot of cable/streaming packages have NBA TV, too). Watch a few games - the experience is much different than just the highlights. There's a lot going on in an NBA halfcourt set, but it's a "don't blink" thing for sure. Like I mentioned, due to the short shot clock and incredibly high skill level across the player base, things happen very, very quickly: https://youtu.be/v_uZnOpY1iI

Unless you have visited every message board in the country and spent extensive time reading them you have no basis for this comment.

So, anyone have any inside info on Weisys process? The waiting is killing me.

IMO, he needs to hire a speed and agility coach, the best he can find, and come back for his senior year and become the B1G player of the year.
Right now I see Garza being drafted around 60. Im not sure weisy will go higher, but I could be wrong.

You obviously haven’t met any Iowa State fans.

You must have a pretty narrow field of vision. One doesn't even have to go outside the state borders to find a program that bitches about the refs a whole lot more than IOWA fans.

16 total messages...Doesn't seem at all like trolling to me. If you're going to troll just be sure to work the message count to provide a little disguise. You're giving yourself away way to easily.

Ive meant and know way to many ISU fans and they dont even come close to iowa fans in the bitching about the refs department.
Nice try, clown fan.......but your fans are 1000x worse. Apparently, you've lost many games because of some grand "conference conspiracy" to keep you down. Then your dipsh&% of an AD (who got kicked out of a HS Bball game for throwing a toddler tantrum about the refs) threw a press conference to throw another hissy fit about the refs. Instead of being embarrassed like they should have been.....Clown fans loved it!

When your team just loses EVERY SINGLE GAME in your conference season......not a good time to troll on your big bro's message board.

I don't see JW playing in the Association. If Peter Jok or J. Uthoff can't make a roster, Wiesy won't either. Just my opinion.

Clone fans have the biggest victim complex of any fanbase I've seen. They get a normal bad call to go against them and act like it's the worst call in the history of calls.

Yeah I always looked at Jok as having a legit legit shot. When he's open he was money. But he never really came close. Uthoff has had a couple cups of coffee but couldn't stick. Cook on the other hand he just might carve out himself a nitch. (Not necessarily a huge role but a roster spot nonetheless) I don't see JW as NBA level good either. It's just a high high bar. I don't think he has the handle/dribble drive ability to be a 2. He'd be pidgeon holed into being like what Kyle Korver was later in his career. How good of a shooter does one have to be to be to be such a 1 dimensional kind of player?

Ed Hightower retired, so someone had to take that space. Nature abhors a vacuum.

I never looked at Jok as having zero ability to play defense.
And yes, as another poster pointed out, there is a defi nate lack of defense in the NBA! Every year I look in on 5 or 10 games for a few minutes each. IT NEVER FAILS that someone will drive the lane from the top of the key and 4 defenders are seen leaving the area or just standing still watching.
Why don't they step in a take a charge? BC only 1 in 10 refs will call a charging foul. Why bother to sacrifice your body for the team when it's you who will be called for a blocking foul and a subsequent "and one." Why bother, it just gives the other team a free throw and you get a foul called on you.
The NBA is a league of vastly overpaid prima-donnas with sky-high ego's and every single rule promotes offense.
The rule that irks me the most is an offensive time-out and the get to advance the ball 3/4's of the way down the court and inbounds it near their own basket.
THAT'S NOT BASKETBALL!
Come to think of it, most of all the other rules suck too. NBA players are pampered and should be wearing diapers.

Doesn't the bulk of this argument apply to every professional sport out there? I see NBA players no different than any other professional athlete in terms of them being pampered and should be wearing diapers. I also see similar comparisons to your comment about "every rule promoting offense" applying to the NFL and across the board of professional sports. I get that your not an NBA fan, as its not for everybody, but I don't see a difference from pro league to pro league in terms of the make up of the athletes or the rules of the games. People want to see offense and points scored I don't think its necessarily the leagues making rules that suck, but rather the leagues giving the fans what they want.

Just my opinion but I'd be pretty surprised if JW stayed. Whether he goes to Pros this year or next isnt going to change his draft stock IMO. JW won't be a 1st rd kid this year or next.

Wts..JW turns 22 this year. He would be 23 entering the draft next year..That is not ideal for him. Clock is ticking.

I actually think JW ceiling is higher than Luka's in Pros.

This year...
14.8 ppg
6.6 rpg
FG 49.1%
FT 67.7%
3 46.2%
while POY gets all the attention.

Next year...
19.5 ppg
7.7 rpg
FG 55%
FT 82%
3 46%
while being other team’s primary focus. And develop average plus ball handling skills.

IMO the 23 year old is probable 1st round...with guaranteed contract. The 22 year old is a possible 2nd round and playing G League.

Side Note - Corey Kispert gambled on himself and went from 1st Team All Conference to 1st Team AA.
