Why keep Erb?

I wasn't talking about any player in particular. I said most that left had minor adversity and should have wanted to stick it out. again I'm not saying any one in particular had minor adversity

just to be clear: you are picking on Erb for his player defection. You are saying most of his players that left, left due to minor adversity?

The WRs who left left due to credit card theft, et al Bowman and Douglas (kicked off) and the other I can think of left due to drugs Cleveland (kicked off).

The RBs who left - Hampton asked to leave, Arob kicked off, Wegher grades and baby momma issues, Pugh left given his involvement in sexual assault #1

I don't see any of the above being minor, and the majority didn't have the choice of 'sticking it out' due to their inept decision making abilities.

I'm sure I've missed some of Erb's players who left - feel free to remind.

Brinson is one more off the top of my head. other then AROB who was forced to leave? that's a real question cause I'm not sure. I know that most had some form of adversity then chose to leave. we can debate about whether it was minor or not but it doesn't really make a difference to my point. if I got into trouble and had a great relationship with my position coach I might stick it out. if i got in trouble and didn't have a great relationship with him I might leave. it doesn't mean he was the reason they got in trouble but he might be a huge factor in why they decide to leave after they get in trouble. when other position players get hurt or get busted they don't jump ship at near the rate as running back. when a running back gets hurt i assume he's gone. when other players get hurt it doesn't even cross my mind that they will leave

all the guys i list got the boot (other than wegher, and clearly he had grade issues as he didn't qualify to play at JUCO) - they didn't decide to leave after they got into 'minor' trouble. had nothing to do with their position coach. so to blame erb for WR and RB defections is a bit of a reach.

brinson is an example that does probably support your claim, but i doubt the position coach has anything to due with him leaving or not leaving. he had injuries and the asthma problems from day 1.

You guys seem to miss the fact that KF replaced guys who were father figures to these guys for green in your face kids that had none if the cultural background of the guys who left. Sometimes you need people on staff that can directly relate to these kids that are experiencing radical culture shock. But more importantly, have you ever heard one of these guys reference Erb in any way after they left? Any of these guys express gratitude for his help and support? Any say they are sorry for letting him down?

Players would do this about Aiken and Jackson.

Two best performers?? And how do you account for all the drops this year?? I supposed that isnt coaching responsibility. DJK dropped his share too. Who is responsible for DJK's misbehaviors???

If Kirk believed Erb responsible for misbehaviors, he would be gone.

You give Soup props for what DJK and McNutt have done. Let's give props to Erb as he did very well with Shonn Greene, Hampton,Wegher, Robinson, and Coker on the field. I dont hold him accountable for off the field behaviors.

You really need to drop this whole line of attacking on Erb. Go after his coaching if you want, say he isn't liked, say he can't coach X's and O's, that he can't recruit, etc. The whole we are losing RB, Erb isn't a mentor, and it is Erb's fault is just beyond stupid.

Look at the RB history with Iowa, we have a whole phenomena called AIRBHG because the history is soooooooo bad. This all pre-dates Erb as RB coach. Please explain years 2002-2008 since you want to dump all the RB problems on Erb. The same things have were happening BEFORE Erb...injuries, kids not qualifying, kids leaving the program. My guess is Erb leaves, and it would be more of the same at the RB position. You are a stats kind of guy...if 10 years of data can't convince you, then nothing will and you are simply IGNORING the facts that this was a problem at the RB position loooooooong before Erb became RB coach.

I thought Hampton chose to leave. if every running back that left was kicked off the team except brinson then its hard to blame the coach but from what I understand most chose to leave. either I'm not remembering right or you have an inside source.
