I really don't think either coach is responsible for Greene, he was just good. A running backs coach can teach blocking and small things like that but you either have it or you don't. The question with Erb isn't so much how well he coaches backs as much as why he can't keep them here. its not that he is the reason they get in trouble but if they liked him more maybe he would be the reason they stay after getting into trouble
With all due respect, you are a moron. Jackson coached Greene to give him the ability to maintain his balance on that sick spin move he had against Purdue and Jackson coached the speed he had on those long runs and Jackson coached his strength to allow him to plow through tackles. It's all coaching. Hell, if Jackson would have coached him his senior year he would have not had any competition from LT on the Jets because his 40 time would be .2 faster and he would be way better at catching the ball out of the backfield.I really don't think either coach is responsible for Greene, he was just good. That's right Chad, Iowa posters are by far the worst and most illogical in all the land. All other message boards are populated by a bunch of Mr. Spocks.Well for anyone with a decent logic train, it seems fairly obvious. I will agree however that logic, football and message board posters (Iowa’s especially) don’t go hand in hand.
I guess I didnt think of that. sometimes I need to think before I type
pc - put your sarcasm filter on when reading that post you are replying to.....I guess I didnt think of that. sometimes I need to think before I type

It's definitely not the coaches. 2 big ten championships. 4 top 10 finishes. 6 new year's day bowls. We just have bad kids. It's everywhere. We lose games because players can't execute our well-prepared gameplans. Like Penn St. Even though they were starting freshman corners we decided to run first. It was a genius game-plan but the players couldn't execute. Coaches can't follow kids all over the place. These kids come in and put on a face for the coaches. When really, they're just rotten underneath. These poor coaches get taken advantage of all the time by these dang kids. I think we should just quit recruiting all-together and just let kids who REALLY want to be here contact us. That way our poor coaches won't be taken advantage of. And it's not fair for fans to take shots to our poor coaches who've devoted their lives to putting an elite product on the field and for what? Just so you guys can tear them down? I've had enough of it. Nobody does more to protect the image of the U of I than this staff. We'll see how many of you are on board next Jan 1st during the Rose Bowl. Yeah, we'll be back. This staff has everything under control.
Man, I hope you are being sarcastic here.Bill snyder is just a hack. Should've retired a long time ago.
Really this is very valid I forgot about the WR thing...when we lost DD and Bowman and all those wideouts...who was the coach? you guessed it, mr Erb.....hmmmmmmm
Legend has it Erb was the person who actually incorporated City Boyz, Inc. and the only reason he wasn't in the pictures with CBI was that Ferentz told him he didn't want a Eustachy situation on his hands. Of course that is only legend, so take it for what it's worth.
your position coach should be a reason you want to stay after getting in trouble. its not that Erb is the reason they are getting busted for things but for the most part people are chosing to leave AFTER they get in trouble. I think there is a very good chance Erb isn't making a strong enough impression on players to make them want to stick it out through minor adversity
First, I highly doubt that some of the guys who got in trouble at positions Erb coached were guys Ferentz would ever want back. Second, if I were an unpaid athletic cog in a multimillion dollar business enterprise and I felt like I didn't get a fair shake in something, no amount of coddling from a position coach would get the bad taste out of my mouth.your position coach should be a reason you want to stay after getting in trouble. its not that Erb is the reason they are getting busted for things but for the most part people are chosing to leave AFTER they get in trouble. If not, just look at KSU's results with Snyder vs without him.
