Why is McNutt only a 4th round projection?

While this is true it also means everyone outside of that first group is pretty interchangable. If a team has a need and falls in love with a player you could see them go a round or two earlier than many project.

Which is why your guy said anywhere from rounds 2-4.

Not sure other than being an Iowan fan why anyone would think mc nutt was better than a fourth round ? Avg speed struggles against press coverage. Tm3308 was all over him last year being a 2nd round guy if he came out. Not sure how do look old threads up app, but everything is covered in there.

I admit I was thinking 2nd round as well. Fast & Big receivers has been what the NFL has wanted.

I guess we are just going to have to disagree with this though.

I honestly don't understand how someone can be in the 90th% of starting college WR's in every single conceivable offesnive stat and NOT be considered to have elite production.

I don't understand how someone can own nearly every single receiving record in school history and not have elite production.

For one, because Iowa has never had elite talent at WR. So being elite among the non-elite doesn't make a person elite.

There isn't a credible football analyst out there that would call McNutt elite or call falling in the 90th percentile in statistics elite.

And this among many, many people that abuse the word to start with. I would go so far to say that there are numerous drafts that we don't see an elite WR, but then again...I actually understand the meaning of the word and I don't just throw it around in place of "very good" or even "exceptionally good".

Or "solid"

Do you understand that someone can have elite production without being elite? Those are two different things. NOBODY said he was an elite WR. I said he had ELITE college production. Being ranked in the top 24 or better in every single conceivable important statistical measure for a WR constitutes elite in my book.

It's like you are getting caught up in an ACT logic question....

True or False:
All elite dishwashers have big bewbs. Sally has big bewbs. Sally is an elite dishwasher.

Ohhh films a big part no doubt, but the simple fact is you don't put up 80+ catches, 1300+ yards, and 12 TDS without beating people on film, especially in the B10. B10 CB's aren't known to be as strong as some of the corners in the SEC but they ain't no slouches either. The B10 is at worst a very very good football conference.

9 of those TDs were against the crappiest of the crappy, though. Add one against Minnesota and one against Northwestern and you have 11 of his 12 TDs. He had one against MSU, but other than that, against average to above average collegiate corners, he didn't do too much. I'm grateful for his contributions and think he is a solid dude, but I wouldn't count on him to do much against the average NFL starting CB based on what I have seen out of him to date against decent CBs. However, against a nickel or dime back in a 3 or 4 WR set, the guy could be a nightmare of a possession receiver in short yardage situations and wind up being a solid contributor in the right situations. For a WR, that is the definition of a middle round draft pick.

Soooo yer saying that while my ability to crush brews is outstanding when compared to my prole buddies when I come hang out at the ********* tailgate I'll be lucky just to hang in there?

Yes, see Jeremy Lin, for instance. Jim Plunkett.

Those are two different things. NOBODY said he was an elite WR. I said he had ELITE college production.

There is nothing about him that is elite by most peoples standard.

You have to take this position because otherwise it would require you to admit you're wrong in your perception.

Clearly your book is entitled to its authors opinion.

I take that stance because I believe it to be true. Out of curiosity what does it take to be elite in your book?

YOU CANNOT HANDLE MY ROOFIECOLADA.

Your Busch Light 30 pack is like Tennessee Tech or whatever cornerbacks. My RoofieColada is Woodson or Cromartie or Revas.

I should have clarified, what kind of production would he have needed to have for you to have considered that production "elite".

Do you think that Montee Ball is an elite running back bince he tied Barry Sanders' TD record? I think he is average with a good supporting cast and system and a coach willing to unload on subpar teams and feed him the ball whenever to pad his stats.

So what round would you have drafted him back in the day? I mean he had unmatched production in the history of college football.

I'd say he's borderline illiterate and isn't big enough to be anything other than a specialist in the NFL.

his production is definitely elite.

Yes. It's a main reason why fans think their team's players should be drafted in the 2nd round, while everyone else evaluating the player believes they should be drafted in the 4th round.

Like when he padded his stats with:

Nebraska 30-151 5.0 4TD
@MSU 18-115 6.4 1TD
@OSU 17-85 5.0 1TD
@ILL 38-224 5.9 2TD
PSU 25-156 6.2 4TD
MSU 27-137 5.1 3TD (BTT)
Oregon 32-164 5.1 1TD (RB)

Thats 187-1032 5.5 16TD in their 7 toughest games of the year. You probably think Illinois doesn't belong on that list but they were 15th in the country in scoring defense.

He had his lowest number of carries against the weakest teams on their schedule.

UNLV 10
OrSU 18
NIU 20
SDakota 15
Indiana 14
Purdue 20
