Why is McNutt only a 4th round projection?

i put some things on kok...such as in game adjustments. against nebby and isu i think they should have used motion with mcnutt to allow him more free releases as he struggles getting off the line. hopefully with the right team they can teach him how to get off the line in press coverage and scheme to help get him off the line. i feel this because he actually does get separation within his route. it is more about the initial start and that is where he struggles.

And most of his career at Iowa, he played second banana to an ego-maniacal coke head who couldn't stick in the CFL or Arena league.

When McNutt was a sophomore and in his first full season at WR, he played second banana to a junior DJK who started his whole career. And even as a second banana, you could say he equaled him going 34-674-8 to DJK's 45-750-2.

When McNutt was a junior, he outproduced senior DJK 53-861-8 to 46-745-10. Or you could call that a draw.

I personally blame KOK for his lack of production versus penn state as they often single covered him versus a freshman making his first start. Knebby had a solid scheme versus McNutt that should have opened things for other receivers and Iowa's passing game was not built to attack it for that game.

I do think KOK held back JVB and McNutt versus elite defenses.

One thing that I think KOK/KF and staff did on the road was that they went ultra conservative on hot reads. Everything was short short short, and the defense knew it and could blow it up. At home, Iowa would challenge press coverage by going deep and converted a solid ptg.

It'll be interesting to see how they adjust under GD this year. I'm excited for it.

Oh, well, in that case, he's elite and sEcSPN has been brainwashing pro scouts with Big 10 bias.

I honestly would be surprised if he doesn't even get drafted. Disappointed yes, surprised no. I love him for everything he's done as a hawk, but he's not as good as some of you people think. Waaaaaay too many drops that were his fault.

Do you not know anything about football, your post is laughable.

Workouts only mean so much. Game action is more important I am sure. Nothing against Marvin, but keep in mind this kid was a QB and moved positions. Pro scouts know this and I am sure that played something into his level of being drafted.

Also Duffman-your comment about him being one of the best 2-3 WRs in the nation. You really need to understand there are 117 other division 1 schools with WRs and 100 some 1-AA schools all with WRs, too. Iowa is not the only school that plays college football.

Its FBS and FCS now :) Just thought I would send the update out.....I too am shocked he hasnt gone yet but really if he was a 1st rounder or a 7th rounder his chance to succeed in the NFL is the same. Maybe the later he goes the better. When he gets on the practice field and does what Marvin does he will be even more impressive as a late rounder. This shouldnt shake his confidence either hes a tough dude with a good attitude. I totally disagree with him changing positions as a negative. Not everyone can do that and even less become a conference leader after doing so.

Also at this point he has to be one of the best 2-3 WRs left :)

Duffman- this is what you posted on the first page of this thread...

There aren't 100 other guys who can do what he does. He was one of the top 2-3 receivers in the college game last year, in a passing game that isn't really known for showcasing the position

I appreciate you sticking up for the Hawks but he was not even close to being that. He was a starter on a middle of the pack Big 10 team with an average offense. There are some really good WRs in the ACC SEC Big 12 Big 10 Pac 12 and Big East. And there are also smaller 1-A conferences and all of the 1-AA schools.

And I know it is FBS FCS but I am an old guy and I still call it 1-A and 1-AA. Us old guys do not like change.
