Why I still think this is a tournament team

Still no word on Connor's status after that blow he took at the end of the Rutgers game.

I think today is when Fran normally has a presser. Should find something out.

I heard it was more his jaw than getting his bell rung. Like you said we should find out more today at the presser.

If northwestern loses today and we win tomorrow, we will be one game out of 3rd place in the loss column. There's going to be a lot of teams finishing within a game if 10-10 this year. Hopefully we will be one thats 11-9 or better.

Ulis is in yr 3 isn't he? I think he is who he is at this point. Bowen on the other hand is a blank canvass. I wish they'd almost split their mins. Since Bowens burned his RS may as well really see what we have in him. Throw him in the fire more. But that doesn't seem to be how Fran wants to handle em
After watching Flip this year, I'm not sure I'm ever going to assume someone has already hit his ceiling again.

Tom Davis had a knack for showcasing players in their senior years.

Les Jepsen was the classic example, but Bill Jones, James Moses, James Winters, Wade Lookingbill and Jim Bartles all qualified.

Russ Millard and Ryan Bowen had their best years as seniors.

Sadly Chris Street never got his senior year.

How about Fran with Marble, White, Uthoff and now Flip? Those guys went from decent players to 1st teamer. Flip probably won't be a 1st teamer, but he quite possibly made the biggest one year jump.

Big difference with them. Rebraca showed it in ND he could play like this. He just wasn't comfortable last yr unsure of his role. With Keegan, JBo and the rest it just took him awhile to figure out his role and be comfortable with the change he made going from there to Iowa. Now he's comfortable and confident and just letting it all hang out.

Ulis has never shown squat jack yet really. He's hit a few shots here and there. Anyone think Ulis could do 10 pts and 4 assists for an avg? Playing 30 mins a game for a pg I would think that'd be doable. I'm not sure he can. Now it's not that big of a leap for him to do that next yr if he stays but I'm not sure I'd put much $ on it.

I'll add Peter Jok to your list. He had an awesome Sr yr too. Along with increasing his scoring he almost doubled his rebs and assists from his JR yr.

I talk out of both sides of my mouth when it comes to Ulis. Sometimes I am like, wow, he can get to the hoop anytime he wants and he's a great passer. Then he shoots an airball in the lane and I'm like, we can't have this guy out there. Over all, I think he plays pretty good D, has good handles and this team would be F'd without him since we're short on bodies. He's logging a lot of minutes, we need him, but I also recognize he's the weakest link in our line up from an offensive standpoint. I'd like to see more Bowen too, just not sure he's quite as ready for the role.

After Iowa's win vs Rutgers I too noticed Iowa's fairly impressive 4 Q1 wins. But there's no guarantee those will STAY Q1 wins. If Indiana continues its total meltdown -- which is very possible -- that win won't look nearly as good. There's some others that are on the edge also. Gotta hope Rutgers, Iowa St., Seton Hall, Clemson, et al keep winning.

Good take. Yea, they all kind of exploded the last year. Jepsen and Bowen had nice NBA careers as well.

I thinkk it was a jump up in physicality and speed that he prob had to get used to more.

Not worth worrying about the unkn, if you ask me.

I was ready to write Garza off at times his first year on campus. It tends to take the bigs more time to adjust than wings and guards.

Aaron gets the ball downcourt quick, before the D is set

Any points he scores are a huge bonus

He an Perkins are solid on D, constantly hounding the oplponents

He is a large part of the package
