Why Am I Suddenly Starting to Get Hit With Pop-Up Adds?

Its quite annoying on the phone and iPad. On my laptop I don't really see until I close the browser, but on the phone I am directed to the ad.

My iPad kind of does the pop under. It very briefly goes to the ad, but before it's even finished loading, it goes back to HN. I just have to close the ad's tab. But I get straight pop ups on my laptop, though I do use Chrome, which was said to be particularly vulnerable. Still really annoying, though.

I will be analyzing these campaigns this week. I just don't believe they are worth it, and they are showing up in instances where I was told they would not. The fact that they create new tabs on smart phones is something I was told would not happen and 'is not them'. I just dont buy that

They're Internet Advertisers. They're a rung below Used Car Salesmen on the ladder of life.

Don't get any at home using Chrome ad-block. Can't check this site at work anymore because I'm forced to use IE (ugh, i know...) and the pop ups are way intense. Also can't check on my Kindle for the same reason, even though I have pop-ups disabled...
I'm using Chrome and I'll get a pop-up and Chrome will tell me "Pop-up was blocked by Chrome" while I'm looking at the pop-up and X'ing out of it myself...

i am no longer willing to pull up the site on my tablet or work computer (have to use IE on that one...i know!) because the pop ups are intense.

but, things look really good here on my laptop, and i'm running chrome. maybe i'm just cooler than some of you ;)

Well, you are MEATman, so I hope you're cooler than the rest of us, else you'll rot.

Sorry if this has been discussed here, but just today I started to get a

"you have chosen to open the file afr.php" box from a "cas.ny.us.criteo.com"

obviously I did not click on download and did a little poking around google about it, but still not sure what it is.

Site always launches 2 extra windows with ads.

Often get windows warning that Windows prevented the site from cross stiching.

Suddenly having several issues with the site. Got a re-direct virus, ib.adnxs.com, that apparently is quite nasty that suddenly hangs up when I'm reading the site in Chrome. Thought the fix was simple to simply delete the cookie but it's looking more complicated than that. Working on that now.

Several other processes appear to run on the site, possibly all related to monitoring traffic to the site. Perhaps Jon can elaborate:

- d.o1.publisherunion.com
- loadus.exelator.com
- us-ads.openx.net
- ad.yieldmanager.com

Agreed. No app - which I didn't use anyway - and now I can't even go to the site on my phone. Most annoying thing ever. I haven't tried using the chrome browser on my phone - I will give that a try. But that thing still has some bugs that I don't like.
