Whoops Wisconsin wr

Public intox at Iowa = 1 game suspension

Accessory to sexual assault at Wisconsin = 2 game suspension

Yup seems about right.

You’re convicting both players already. There is a presumption of innocence. Cephus’s lawyers today asked for charges to be dropped due to video and texts that would prove his innocence (according to them) just because the defense claims that doesn’t make it true either. People on one side or the other will look very badly by proclaiming guilt or innocence without the facts. He’s not playing until it’s sorted out legally so I don’t see an issue here.

A DUI is obviously totally different crime. Your guilt/innocence can be easily determined on the spot. Wisconsin has a set determination of penalty for a DUI and public intox. I believe public intox is 2-games at UW.

Ya you could definitely take that stance, however Davis was still suspended for 2 games. Not indefinitely until cleared of wrong doing as you say. He was given a set punishment for said involvement. There was obviously enough facts for them to take that punitive action.

It really has very little to do with actual guilt of a crime or not. Cephus could be found innocent of any charges against himself and Davis will have still served the 2 game suspension. It sure likes like the coaches believe he screwed up here. Just not bad enough to miss anymore than a couple tune up games.

What's somewhat mystifying is that it took the investigation 3 months to charge the guy.

Regardless, it won't be a big loss, disappointing but not a big loss IF the team loses him. Wisconsin is well stacked at WR this year and was trying to figure out how to get all of a crowded unit on the field. We lost him last year for the last half of the season and did just fine. We have the same plus returning.

BTW, I have NO leaning one way or another toward what transpired. I sincerely hope the truth comes out. No IS NO IF that is what all this is about.

What in the hell are you doing on the Iowa site? Really, dont you have better things to do on your badger site etc.

they will always try and get it thrown out right away. They don't want any more to come out and go public than necessary.
Secondly, the da wouldn't even consider a case like this if they weren't pretty certain. After all, you are talking about someone's life and career here.
Thirdly I don't know any women who go to the hospital and get a rape exam for no reason.
Granted she could really just hate the guy. But she would have to be pretty messed up to hate someone so much that she goes and hangs out with him sleeps with him, then claims rape.
That level of being whacked usually has a history and can be proven (example Rob's brick thrower).
Finally another girl confirmed it. So what two girls are psycho and out to get him????
Come on man. This crap ain't good. Everyone involved knows it.

I tend to agree with you 4th. However, the whole thing has been fishy from the start. It took 3 months for the investigation to end in a charge. There were two girls and one guy, (neither of the girls could free themselves of his clutches?). The roommate (Davis) walks in and takes a picture but isn't charged (as of yet). And now "some" evidence that the second girl wasn't as drunk as she says she was. I'm NOT in anyway trying to say Cephus is innocent. I don't know. He certainly isn't living up to Wisconsin standards. Personally, I'll wait to see how it all shakes out. On your 3rd point, it might be out of embarrassment and worry about what Mama might say, knowing that pictures were taken.

3 months isn't anything. Especially in a bigger place where they are dealing with a heavy work load of cases.
Which they wouldn't have if they weren't popping people for mistaken unmarked cop cars for an Uber. Jesus focus on catching and or preventing the real bad guys, there are plenty of them.
But yeah 3 months isn't anything.

Have I hurt or insulted the Hawkeye nation in some way? I follow the Hawkeyes, I lived in Iowa for 15 years, have friends who are huge Iowa fans, and attended many Iowa games while I was there. Just because I'm a bigger Badger fan doesn't mean I can't be a Hawkeye fan as well. I understand that when the Hawkeyes are being pounded by the Badgers that some Iowa fans might get their noses out of joint, but I forgive you.

It's not that big a place, 4th, and is well staffed. They could handle an investigation of this nature, that was confined in one site with 4 witnesses and multiple cameras. One of the questions in my head, AND IT IS A QUESTION, is "Is the DA being safe in light of the metoo movement?). I'll reiterate, it is a question in my mind and leads me to take a wait and see approach.

Meh you are all good. Most fans of other teams are. Sure you have the obvious trolls, but they are easy to not feed.
You pretty much talk football, have some knowledge of it. Nothing wrong with that, regardless who you are a fan of. Nebraska fans are the worst. They are like we are the greatest, you ask why, what makes them think so and they say, because we are. Well ok, I didn't realize I was talking to an 8 year old.

In answer to the other guy's question, I'm over on the Badger sites as well, but I enjoy this one better because there's too much animus over there.

Overall agree. On this you do come across as a typical homer which is a part of any side. Talk about something "fishy" going on with sexual assault is going to get a response. BTW, it's much tougher to prove assault than it is to deny it historically.

I said "fishy", and I posted that as soon as the news broke, but that was for both sides and not defending either one. I couldn't figure out WHY Davis hadn't been charged, especially in light of the time the investigation took. I couldn't figure out how Cephus controlled 2 people with an uncharged roommate sitting by. It was just "fishy". Obviously, most of us want to throw the book at the other team's players or coaches (or S&E staff). I try not to, and would rather wait and see. Cephus may be innocent, but I doubt he'll ever play another snap for us. THAT would be a shame.

Why would it be a shame? Usually reports like this are greatly toned down.

No, if he's truly innocent he'll play. There would likely be more to the story. In your opinion, what would innocent be in this?
Innocent would be innocent of sexual assault at any level. That in itself probably doesn't meet Badger athletics character standards. As I said before, I doubt he plays again for Wisconsin, at least this year.

Jeez! You've convicted him already! I guarantee you, it wasn't "greatly toned down here".

Here is what you don't get. College athletic departments don't need a conviction to bounce a guy from a team. Programs like Iowa, Alabama and Northwestern that have strong compliance departments will toss a guy out even if the evidence is short of being able to bring an arrest. They apply a different standard than the legal system. I don't know if this guy is guilty or not, but I can assure you that on the allegations out there right now he would never suit up for Iowa or 'Bama ever again.

But if he doesn't meet standards, why would that be a shame? That he is denied or that he blew his opportunity that most don't get?
