Whoops Wisconsin wr

Here is what you don't get. College athletic departments don't need a conviction to bounce a guy from a team. Programs like Iowa, Alabama and Northwestern that have strong compliance departments will toss a guy out even if the evidence is short of being able to bring an arrest. They apply a different standard than the legal system. I don't know if this guy is guilty or not, but I can assure you that on the allegations out there right now he would never suit up for Iowa or 'Bama ever again.

If you are talking about hearsay evidence that is fault that is one thing. Usually these things involve other issues that are pointed out by the criminal charges.

Unknownbadger, here is the gig. We know at least one other man was out in the other room. So get free and escape to where??
Throw in the possibility that someone was being vocal about saying no, loud enough for his roommate out in the other room to hear. (Totally speculation). But you can see how it might of happened.
Rape is about dominance and control. Those things can and often are perception and illusion. So all he had to say, without them saying a word, and maybe not even true, but all he had to do was insinuate that his buddy in the other room would stop them from leaving. F he took pictures, so it's not a stretch to assume he would back his buddy up and stop them.
Which is why it's f'ed up that they are not both suspended.
As for fishy?? They investigate cases for months all the time. Sometimes years!!

OKee, I've been around Iowa football long enough to know that hasn't always been the case at Iowa. However, Wisconsin is NOT VERY forgiving either. We've been extremely tight over the last 2 decades. It is why I speculated that he may not ever take another snap at Wisconsin. I left the window open SHOULD the entire scene prove to be consensual and the women drop the case. Which is only fair. I error on the woman's side in all issues like this but if the woman throws herself at you, would you be big enough to wave her away? I don't know what the answer would have been when I was 19-20 years old.

Gee 4th, you sound like there were bars on the windows, and the doors were all locked, and a guard on the other side just in case. You are getting way out there now, 4th. I am NOT defending Cephus. I am leaving it to the judicial system. Something you are not doing.

Umm no I'm not.
I've been around this stuff before.
That's why they have a law about authority figures getting in even more trouble for this kind of stuff.
The illusion or perception of domination is all that is required.
His roommate taking pictures proves those girls odds were 2 girls against 2 football players at best.
Because if he was taking pictures he sure wasn't on the girls side, now was he?

I heard Davis is going to appeal his suspension. His argument is that the girls he watched Cephus "get with" were fat and he is a victim. 2 games for doing nothing if the charges against Cephus are true...is pretty lame.

Just going to throw this out there, it's not the Wisconsin passing game that scares me on offense. Add in the fact that we managed a whopping 66 yards of offense ourselves last year...

What side were the girls on at that point? That's my question. Do YOU KNOW the answer? You are speculating, insinuating and deflecting, 4th. We 've too much of that in Washington.

Yeah, no shit it hasn't always been that way at Iowa. But this one time, a guy named Pierre Pierce brought disrespect to the entire athletic department and Iowa drastically overhauled its compliance function. Guys like Satterfield and Everson were gone as soon as the University caught wind of their complaint even though they weren't arrested for several months. And there have been other guys bounced where no one really knows the story because the school can't disclose it, but there are plenty of rumors floating around that lead me to believe that Iowa is nowhere near as soft on crime these days as Wisconsin.

It should always raise a question in your mind when someone says "I heard".

We got rid of two guys and people still don't know what they did. We got rid of 3 others, one of which is all Pro now before they ever saw a classroom. Northwestern may be tough, they need to be just like us because of their transgressions in the past, but Wisconsin is just as tough. We've canned our leading rusher for pushing down his girlfriend. Another all-American (Moss) for something I can't remember. Our starting QB was suspended for a while for getting into a fight. Suspended for a year the leading punt returner in the Big Ten for stealing a TV set, and all that was before we got tough.

Please share with the world what rumors of crimes these were so that our newspapers can inform us all. They will be very happy to do that.

Look, I know it sucks to have players accused of this kind of stuff. The worse part is that our fandom clouds our overall judgement.

You are correct that no one has been found guilty of anything yet. Because of that I do not condem anyone yet. However the court of public opinion has zero association with innocent until proven guilty. The court of public opinion is driven by how things look. In this scenario things look pretty ugly. I hope you could at least see that. Maybe both of them are completely innocent, but in this kind of a situation even as unfortunate as it is to the football team neither of these guys should be playing until Cephus is exonerated. As it stands with Davis right now the allegation is that he was a knowing party to rape. Im sorry but 2 games is not a sufficient response.

If Cephus is innocent than Davis's 2 games will have been quite unfair. More likely though Cephus will be convicted. All prosecuting attorney's offices carry a very high conviction rate. In Des Moines the DA's conviction rate is 95.7%. Feel free to reply with the DA conviction rate for whatever DA office that is overseeing this case. I'm sure it's very high. If the day comes that Cephus pleas or is convicted then Davis's 2 game suspension will look like a joke and everyone will be disgusted that he played at all. It could end up being a nasty national black eye for your beloved badgers.

How many times do I have to say, I'm not sticking up for anybody. I DON"T KNOW AND WILL WAIT TO FIND OUT. I'm riding the fence. I WON"T JUDGE CEPHUS GUILTY OF THE CHARGES NOR WILL I RULE HIM INNOCENT because I'm not privy to ALL OF THE FACTS. I'll wait. Regardless, it was very poor judgement at BEST. Something I think he will have a hard time overcoming at Wisconsin.

As for how I feel about losing Cephus. I think I said it already, it's a loss but not one I'm worried a whole lot about.

It's funny how all you want to spin this thing. NOT ONE OF YOU is saying that he's innocent until proven guilty. Is that how Iowan's are? It's not how I remember you especially when it came to your transgressions. I have a question. How do you feel about the death at Maryland?

Or what would you say if some guy smacked a gal around and she went to the hospital? She wanted it? Deserved it?
Different kind of assault, but still.
Like I said if she is loony tunes, #1 wtf was he doing with her anyway?? #2 that should be easy to prove.
But the cops, the hospital and ultimately the DA all agree she is not and there is enough evidence to convict.

Oh and yes he is innocent until proven guilty.
Although the tea leaves point to him pleading out to a lesser charge and never playing ball again.
I think what most on this board are wondering wtf is how his piss poor excuse for a man roommate got 2 games?
Even if it was all consensual, what kind of man takes pictures of another man having sex??
Friggin perv.

This is ridiculous, 4th! I've never indicated anything like that. I've never pointed my opinion in one way or another. If anything in the girl's way. I have a daughter. I would NOT like her to get into situations like that. That said, how much responsibility would it be to get into a situation like that, and what actually happened? Do you know? I'm sure the DA would like to hear.

Now you having him pleading. Let's just wait at least till he gets to court if ever he gets to court.

Listen, you are starting to rile me up.
"How much responsibility would it be for a girl to get into a situation like that"!
Let me tell you something, there is a fraction of humanity that still trusts other people. That it doesn't occur to them that there are fucking assholes out there. That these predators are so good at hiding in plain sight, because they have to blend in to get closer to their victims.
It's not even fair. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
However you might want to thank those who are trusting and unaware of the danger from other people, including those they are supposed to be able to trust (at you PSU). Because they are the only good thing. The last bit of humanity.
