When is Drew Ott red shirt announcement?

That's just it. I don't think anyone does.. It's another Wizard of Oz type of thing. Nobody knows who the man or men behind the curtain are. I bet regardless of decision there'll be no reasoning/explanation given. Just a yay or nay and it'll be appealed by Ott if it's a no. It's so dumb. To leave a young mans future up in the air like this for as long as it's been is pretty ridiculous.

Hmm that is really strange. So it just gets submitted to the conference and they say they'll decide after reviewing his case? Neither Kirk or Drew really have a clue who is making the determination? That seems odd. I'm not saying it's not the case. Its a bunch of BS if some unknown individuals get to dictate the direction of a young mans future. Did the B10 learn their policy making from the Russians or FIFA?

I think its BIG AD's who make the decision. I know Barta said he is on the committee but will recuse himself in Ott's case.

Idiotic! Actually, they throw a dart at a dart board to make the decision. There is a set of regulations to make the decision. Iowa & every school in the B1G knows who is making the decision. There is a committee that makes the decision with recommendations from doctors employed to review the medical records. Ott had to supply extensive medical records with his application. B1G doctors review the medical records. The B1G committee receives the report of the doctors and considers other variables before making the decision.

That vote might end up 4-4 for a couple of years.

I hear Ginsburg really has a grudge against football players. She wasn't allowed to try out for the team back in 1902, and it's just eaten at her since then. Let's hope Ott's case doesn't have to go there.

Is this red shirt close enough?

ok, it's lawsuit time. What they are doing to him is ludicrous and people should lose jobs over it. Make up your damn minds already so he can hire an agent and go through the draft process if he needs it.

The more drawn out the decision is the better the chances for Ott. He clearly doesn't meet the criteria. The fact that the B1G didn't reject the application for a medical hardship waiver out right means there is some hope. At least they are considering & deliberating the decision. If I was on the committee I would vote against the application. The application doesn't meet the criteria. Ott played in too many games last year!

I don't get it. They have all the information on what happened to him. Nothings changed for a long time now. The past isn't changing it's easy to go over the timeline of how much he played and how injured he was/is. They've had plenty of time as a group to go over it. So is the delay that they aren't even talking about amongst themselves or that they can't come to an agreement of what to do? It's high time to get off the pot so both he and the school can move ahead whether that's together or not.

I don't get how an OSU receiver heard back close to a month ago about his SIXTH year being accepted, but Ott hasn't heard about his fifth year being accepted yet. It is complete and utter bullsh.......

Bureaucracy at its finest. If they don't grant it by claiming "letter of the law". They should damn well have to explain why it took so long.

I feel for Drew and his family having to wait. I guarantee they appeal if needed.

If I were to use my imagination to be positive, I would hope that during the meeting they approved all the "standard" requests and made plans for how to pursue the "non-standard" ones.
