What Gopher fans are saying about Iowa and our state

I simply don't believe people like this guy would say anything mean about someone from Iowa.

Nope

I was at the Iowa girls state volleyball tournament yesterday. They play in the U.S. Cellular Center which is part of the Double Tree Hotel in downtown Cedar Rapids. I was in the lobby area and in comes in the Gophers football team. Later that night when I was leaving, I found it hard NOT to pull the fire alarm!

who cares what minnesota fans think about iowa.

until this season there was only 24K of them and they're only Gooph fans because they can't get Vikings tickets.

After that lawsuit a few years ago that spilled the beans on the type of unsavory characters playing football in Minnesota, I hope you guys took extra precaution to make sure the young women were safe and escorted around the premises at all times.

Did you get pics of all the Goph players standing outside in their fuzzy Goph boxers?

No, but they had a goofy middle aged man wearing a maroon colored sports coat, Gophers ball cap holding a Minnesota pennant cheering them on as they walked through the hotel. It was kind of weird and creepy.

I'm late to this party but yeah that whole deal with the couple hooking up in the bathroom was unreal. They were two drunk strangers and one of them if not both were at the game with their spouse. Craziest thing I'd ever heard of happening at a game. Till they try that at Kinnick don't talk to me

I jumped over to some Minnesota football forums to see how cranky they were today, was interested that ~90% of them said Kinnick was a shitty dump of a stadium - found that odd.

that's because their stadium sells beer and ours doesn't

Their stadium also has huge concourses and bathrooms and individual seating in all of the lower bowl. Its a simple stadium but its very nice. In terms of the ease getting around the stadium & comfort watching a game, the two stadiums are night and day different.

Well, yeah. One is a classic old stadium built in the early 20th century, the other is 10 years old. That's the kind of critique you'd expect from someone who's not a big college football fan...just stepping into the role because the local team was winning.

New stadiums in college are bs. I wouldn’t trade Kinnick for anything. Carver on the other hand...

Red Auerbach, who may have been the all-time king of gamesmanship, was known for doing exactly that, or more accurately having a henchman do it. He was also known for cold showers in the visitors locker room, hotel pregame meals for the visiting team getting disrupted, and having the Garden blast loud music during visiting teams shootaround.

Well that critique is from someone who has been going to Kinnick since 1985 when I was a young kid. Kinnick is great but being cramped in 12 inches of bench space with someone's knees in your back and another person's back in my lap isn't a comfortable experience. The only time I'm really comfortable there is when you get to stand for long periods of time but we all know how that goes.

I like taking my Dad and Uncle to games and that isn't easy for guys in their early 70s and not in the best health to sit in for 3 hours +

Iowa needs to rip out the benches between the 20s and put in individual seats. But they too concerned about making money.
