Whar Ferentz Haters?

Sorry to fall short of your request to "make you feel like crap" -- really no interest in that, anyway -- but here are a few things that, if they got corrected, might actually allow a 9 or 10 win team to win 9 or 10, rather than struggle to win 8:
-- Greg Davis;
-- Bullock before Canzeri, Christensen before Stanzi, etc;
-- Weisman, stretch left, short side of the field;
-- Kirt chastising his (team, staff, backup QB?) on national TV for scoring too much;
-- 1 for 8 defending fake punts; numerous onside kicks, etc
-- clock management.

Now, I will say, this was about as good a strategical game Kirt and staff have coached in several seasons -- excellent use of timeouts to calm down the team before the field goal and (ultimate) fake punt to run out the regular D to defend against the fakes. Actually sticking with an aggressive game plan when it was successful, rather than going fetal in hopes of not losing.

But, before you go celebrating the 3rd coming of Ferentz, you really need to hope that he's realizing he just needs to get the hell out of the way so guys like Phil Parker can restore Iowa's reputation for physicality along with allowing it to evolve in it's relentless attacking style.

You guys do realize that the head coach is in the meeting rooms and helps plan strategy right? That the ultimate personality of the team comes from the top? So why not give him credit for what's he done...and how he's run his team this year. Phil Parker is nothing but complimentary and loyal to KF? Why, because he's a micromanaging a-hole? It's because he's got a good football mind and does what he needs to do get his teams prepared to win. Greg Davis is another matter, but our offense was better by leaps and bounds this year. Is it great? No. Can it get alot better? Yes. I'd say next year's offense will be alot better, especially if Scherff decides to stay. Playmakers are beginning to step up (Canzeri, Smith, Powell, our TE's). We are moving in the right direction...if you are too blind to see it, we can't help you.

Agree with this post. Finally gave Cannzari a chance (due to other injuries) and that made a big difference.

I admit to predicting this was a 5 win team. VERY Pleasant surprise, especially the lineman play this season compared to last. There were more blitzes today than I have ever seen from this team. Hope Ruddock gets MUCH better and the team starts throwing downfield more often and the future will be even brighter.
HAPPY for team , Go Hawks!!

We can't convince you internet messageboard tough guys anything different than your vitriol and hatred.. dislike of the coaching staff..

So why defend the team?? We have lives.. jobs.. etc..

But once everything comes into focus, it is pretty fun to make a single post (like this one) pointing out not only how dumb those people are.. but how sad their lives were for dogging it at every turn.. every details.. every 2/3* recruit commit that they didn't approve of..

The supporters win moreover with doing so much less. Single post. Right here. It feels good.

I wonder why haters like Drummer and Prdtor40 don't post with the regularity they did a few weeks ago when the Hawks were 5-4?
 
i'm not going to read most of this ... and i don't have any hilarious "didn't read" gifs in my stable.

but, we went 8-4 - with a first year qb.

there are zero fans that wouldn't have taken 8-4 before the start of the year.

if you need me, I'll be over here enjoying what these kids managed to do.
 
Great win, great year, I'll take 8 and 4 every year and that's even with Kfed gettin paid 3.8 milly. Ferentz made some adjustments this year great to witness, damn what a great day to be a Hawkeye.....
 
Nobody hates Kirk. The recent state of the program caused many to question the direction of the program. Calling people out in a thread like this is pointless. Iowa has had a good season. Kudos to the players and coaches. Let's enjoy the win and save the "see, I told you so" threads.

Probably my favorite post i've seen in three years at hawkeyenation, other than mine of course, especially the last line, which is probably quote of the year.
 
KF does better when expectations are low, when there is some mystery behind the team.

The month of November the Hawks have played outstanding defense and the offense has done a lil more. (Canzeri getting more playing time has helped).

Next year expectations will be higher, especially with a real weak schedule. KF has struggled with those type of seasons (2005,2010).

He has right the ship, I'm not willing to say the Hawks are back but they did do a great job this year of beating the teams they should have, with only loss of NIU being borderline bad.

Next year is key for me. I don't hate KF, but I am frustrated by our offenses lack of ability to score.

It was nice to see us score in the 2nd half of games the past 3 weeks.
 
those of you saying "no one hates KF", you should go talk to homerchampless. he's said "i hate KF" several times and stuck by it even after i asked him to clarify. he's all sorts of special

Not me. I want Ferentz gone. This what you were looking for? I'm impressed he didn't lose to any garbage teams this year for the first time in what? 10 years? Half the reason a lot of people picked the hawks to suck so bad is because of the fact that KF is a garbage gameday coach. This year the teams we played sucked bad enough and Iowa got the ball to bounce their way. Doesn't change the fact that I want him gone and I still hate the way he coaches. That being said, I'm very happy the hawks are 8-4 because the entire reason I want KF gone is because I want the program to be successful and I don't think he is the guy to lead them there. 8-4 with this schedule is precisely what they should have gotten to. The fact people are trumpeting an 8-4 season without beating 1 team that will finish in the top 30 in the country says a lot for my point as to where KF has brought this program to today.

You're a special kind of a$$-hole aren't you? If you want to take shots at Kirk all day long, be my guest. You can make yourself look like an a$$ for all I care, but don't take it away from the guys on the field. They busted their tails off all year. Don't you think they had something to do with the way those other teams played? They beat a few teams that were ranked at some point in the season. A few of them were highly ranked even. They also played 4 teams that will finish in the top 25 pretty tough. They didn't get blown out by any of them. Say what you want about NIU being a MAC team, they've lost 2 games in the last two years thus far, one was to us last year, the other was in a BCS bowl. We played OSU VERY tough at the shoe.

Some people will never, ever be happy, short of a BCS/Rose bowl team. The funny thing is I would bet about anything they are the same people that chest thumped all day long after the consecutive #8 finishes.
